Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA May 17, 2007 Good looking ale, a clear golden amber with a frothy head. The aroma has sweet malts, soft fruits, yeast, and a touch of nutmeg and clove. All are blended neatly into the flavor. Nice carbonation. The finish is sticky sweet and spicy. Not too shabby.

Derrick17 (10), Colorado, USA May 14, 2007 I just put this one on tap in my kegerator, and I could not be more thrilled! I think this beer is an excellent example of the craftsmenship NBB puts into its beer. It has a great nose of clove and banana with spice. Taste was wounderful, and only got better as the beer warmed up. This is a great beer to unwind with or to pair with a dessert, or a strong cigar. Burrobuns (80), Columbia, Missouri, USA May 12, 2007 Most impressive aspect of the beer was the head which was both gorgeous and felt great against the lips. Other than that, a solid dubbel that I found somewhat unremarkable. Rotorhead87 (117), Temple, Texas, USA May 11, 2007 Very good beer, my favorite from New Belgium. Too bad its not as readily available in my area as some of the others.
Anyway, a good classic dubble. Not the best of the type but definitely the best of the reasonably priced ones. Has a nice yeast and malt flavor with the yeast coming through the strongest. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 3, 2007 WBF-Raleigh. Hazy dark amber body with a small tan head. Sweet caramel and spice aroma. Sweet caramel and fruity flavor with some light spice. Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Apr 20, 2007 A clear pouring dark brown with light copper highlights. The head was off-white and an inch and a half high. Hung around a while before rertreating into the glass leaving a galaxy swirl atop the brew. The aroma was a pleasant combination of malt, bread with a bit of spice (clove, cinnamon, nutmeg). The flavor was a bit too acidic. Not enough malt to balance out the yeast and citrus flavors that came through. Relatively thin body with a faint metallic aftertaste. Nothing to write home about. bgburdman9 (822), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 19, 2007 Poured dark brown with a reddish hue to it. This was actually a pretty good belgian dubbel. Aroma was yeast, dark fruits, and malty with some yeast coming through. Flavor was pretty rich and malty. A little alcohol came through and maybe the slightest metallic taste. Very solid beer though. troyc (1173), Lubbock, Texas, USA Apr 17, 2007 (Bottle) Pours a reddish dark brown color with an impressive tan head. Aroma of sugar and nutmeg. The taste brings out a more fruity side of the beer. Well balanced flavor, but the aroma was pretty one dimensional. A good beer, and something I will try again when I get the chance.
