barleyPops (1079), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA Dec 3, 2005 I think this is my first rating of an abbey souble. aroma was of yeast and bubblegum. the pour was brown with a fluffy foamy tan head. taste is sugary sweet with some caramel in the background. a little too sweet and fizzy for me to drink this on a regular basis. thanks to heemer for the bottle. ezra456 (39), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Nov 18, 2005 poured out a beautiful amber color with a creamy tan head. aromas consisted of fruity malts and yeast, maybe some nutmeg in there too. very nice flavors: spice, yeast, and a little grass. medium body. overall, a great purchase for anyone that a enjoys a belgian style ale. zathrus13 (1288), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA Nov 9, 2005 Thanks to Johnny Flake for this one. Pours amber/brown, with an off-white head. Aromas are malt, yeast, spice, and bubblegum. Flavors are malt, spice, and yeast. starts a little sweet and ends dry. A nice beer. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 7, 2005 Bubblegum esters dominate the sweet, rich, bready, malty aroma with some herbal notes also apparent. Clear, deep copper-brown with decent, fine bubbled, fizzy tan head that diminishes immediately to a partial cover and ring. Bubblegum esters are strong in the sweet malty flavour with some earthy, grassy notes and some banana also apparent. Medium-full body with pointy, fizzy carbonation that is somewhat distracting. Snifter. Cellar temperature. Bottle (BB 7-Jul-06, Liquor Mart, CO, Oct-05). mreeves (257), Sammamish, Washington, USA Nov 6, 2005 Brownish color, lots of carbonation. Sweet flavor dominates. A nice, reasonably priced dubbel, but certainly not the best example of the style. GeoDoc (34), San Antonio, Texas, USA Nov 4, 2005 Dark amber to brown in color with banana flavor. What Fat Tire aspires to be. JohnnyFlake (53), Henderson, Nevada, USA Oct 22, 2005 12oz bottle - pours a deep mahogany color, with a monsterous full head and lot’s of lacing. Aroma is fruity with nuances of malt, coffee and fresh bread. Flavor is semi-sweet and malty with a touch of hops. Mouthfeel is med/full and creamy, not too much fizz. Finish is nicely complex, with a touch of bitterness. This is an easy drinking beer, offering a host of flavor.
