does not count  Nov 24, 2004 Of all the New Belgium beers that the company produces regularly, I like this one the least. It is simply to sweet for my tastes. While it is complex, the sweet taste is simply too overpowering to enjoy with a meal or with a fine cigar.

Nov 16, 2004 I have not had this in a while so I thought now would be a good ime to rate it.
Clear orange/brown color with big off-white head. Aroma is very fruity with bubblegum, raisin, and banana notes. Taste is fruity, malty in the middle, and finishes a bit dry, making me want to have another sip. Subdued Belgian flavors linger throughout, with the same characteristics of the aroma. It is clear why this wins at the GABF every year.

Nov 11, 2004 Lovely fresh caramel, woody aromatics. Nice, clear ruby color. Earthy, fruity flavor with some bubblegum notes. Clean and good, but not as complex as it’s Belgian brothers.

Nov 1, 2004 Pours amber/raw honey with a small amount of beige head that dissapates quickly. All sorts of wacky estery smells going on here. Banana, coffee grounds, rusted nail. Smooth mouthfeel, medium to thin body. All the wackiness of the aroma comes through in the taste, with some burnt sugar in there too. Strangely metalic. Like a penny, or maybe a little like blood. That Belgian yeast is up to some bizarre stuff.
Nexxus (261), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA
Nov 1, 2004 Hazy medium amber brown with a large frothy off white head. Musty aroma of plum, raisin, ginger, clove, banana, bubblegum, caramel, orange peel, and bread. Medium velvety body with lively carbonation. Flavor of plum, raisin, dried fruit, banana, caramel, clove, and other spices. Dry finish. Fairly complex, and very drinkable. Very good.

Oct 26, 2004 A mahogany color, transparent with lots of light co2. The head is full and off-white with a sticky lace. Aroma is of bread, bananas, caramel, and lightly metallic. Flavor is sweet and malty, and tart with some bananas -- slightly acerbic. Finish has a slow on-the-uptake bite. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, and creamy with an acidic middle and a light hop finish. One of the better American, Belgian style beers I have sampled. A well-balanced interpretation of the style and defiantly more Belgian than Fat Tire.
