Ungstrup (11378), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 23, 2006 A deep red beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet yeasty and malty with slight notes of burnt malt. The flavor is sweet malty with quite a lot of caramel and yeast, combined with lighter spicy notes. The alcohol burns slightly in the throat, and mixes with a dry spicy end. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 1, 2002 Nut brown. Dry, bitter fruity and estery. A nice and complex succesful attempt to make a Belgian style double dark
Papsoe (10359), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 23, 2006 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Slightly hazy orangey brown with a beige head. Aroma of yeast, fruit and roasted malt. Medium-bodied with some sweet, roasted malt, dried fruit and yeast. Not overly thrilling. 191206 Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 14, 2003 A beautiful burgundy colour, a bubblegummy, cherry and christmas fruitcake aroma, and a palate of dark fruits, malty and a warming alcohol finish. A complex, balanced, tasty beer. argo0 (6230), Washington DC, USA Apr 5, 2002 Updated: Jul 28, 2003(7/28/02): Clear copper with off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, orange, light coriander. Taste is much the same, finishing with a light alcohol burn. Medium full body. My description doesn't do it justice, but this is a very well-balanced and appealing beer. (4/5/02): Big head atop a clear red-brown body, with a sweet aroma. The flavor isn't as sweet, but it's light and the foaminess on the tongue dissolves into warm bliss. Fruity, light malty. A bit of bitterness as it goes down the throat, but not much. As it warmed up, the aftertaste turned slightly metallic. (8/4/8/4/15)
