Roasty aroma with a bit of nuts and sour fruit. Dark amber/red in color. Very nice looking in the glass. Dry roasty and rich flavor. Little sour. Some fruit in there. Good belgian style. Nice and lively in the mouth. Finish is dry with a little bitterness. A good dubbel but I have had some that are better. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 16, 2002 Overall, a fresh cut fruit salad kind of aroma (canteloupe?) initially and then still as it warms. The same mouth freshness as well. Pretty clear alcohol presence, but not terribly so or that out of style. Less yeasty than other dubbels. Interesting take. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 3, 2004 Bottle. Nose is hard banana and malt. Flavor is burnt caramel, banana, spice, bubblegum, and malt. The mouthfeel, flavor, and finish is nice, but the combination of banana and bubblegum is not nice. It leaves a taste like a bad candy. Such a good brew ruined by such a bad taste... YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 5, 2004 Nice copper color with a beige head. Visually appealing. Aroma has hints of citrus and spice. Hint of alcohol in the flavor but mostly on the sweet side and very refreshing. An excellent beer. tjthresh (1782), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 13, 2006 Poured into my Delirium Tremens tupil glass. Very nice aroma. Dark dried fruit (maybe cherries), dark sugars, caramalts, even maybe so ripe fruits as it warms a bit more. Dense reddish brown with a fair amount of head. Rich and full of flavor. Raisins, light clove-ish-ness for the yeast, Very sweet upfront, but lots of hop bitterness to finish off the experience. Alcohol is evident, but it does not take away from the overall experience. On of New Belgium’s better regular offerings. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA

Big fruity aroma with notes of golden raisins, bananas and caramel. Flavor is sweet plums, raisins, apples and cloves. Big banana flavor comes at the end. Slightly bitter finish, soft and smooth mouthfeel. shp555 (1776), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
