3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A little too sweet for me...but I must admit this is a well-brewed beer. It has a sweet, spicy, fruitiness to it. With a bit of an alcoholic chaser. Its a dark semi-cloudy brown color. I guess after having a Fullerís Vintage Ale 2001 right before this didnít help its rating. Iíll have to try it again and re-rate it.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Taster at brewery. Pours brown with a khaki head. Leaves trace lacing. Nice malty sweet notes on the nose. Kind of sweetly malty on the tongue. Very quaffable. It goes down so easy. Finished clean. Nice.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from 12oz bottle a dark copper hue, with a small to medium sized head and a little lacing. Aroma is yeasty ,fruity with lots of malt and banana accents along with some spiciness. Rich and complex in flavour: maybe a hint of fig, some raisins, a bit of a woods and earthy leaves. Still, a bit of a metallic unpleasantness in the aftertaste. A fair attempt at a dubbel, but nowhere near as good as the real thing. Decent enough, but not really my style either.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Classic version of a classic style. The yeast character works nicely in concert with the malt to give the subtle fruitiness, without being overbearing. Delicious caramel/toffee quality, moderate dark aged fruit note. Itís no wonder that itís won so many medals.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Wonderful aroma: slight banana, some spiciness and other fruitiness. Certainly not the best dubbel but still quite good.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Belgian easters in the aroma together with caramel and raisins. The taste is caramel, raisins, plums and hints of chocolate. Also some belgian esters in the background.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tastes a little different for the style but still very good. A little bready with some banana. More British character and less of the sweet candi sugar than most dubbels. Some caramel too, but its a bitter caramel. The carbonation level is just right and it has a frothy, lingering head. A pretty easy-drinking dubbel.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Darker brown color with medium white head, flavor full with some bitter flavors with good balance. Would continue to be a New Belgium fan.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle: Rich chestnut & copper body with very mild clarity; chunky, voluptuous ecru cap slowly recedes & leaves some fat lacing spots behind. Aroma of musty bubblegum, doughy yeast esters, faint perfume, stale caramel, & a hint of some dark fruits. Taste is more clove-y & bubblegum forwards, lots of sharp yeast out of the gate. Prunes, red grape, caramel, toast, chunky yeast, & subtle esters linger into the finish. A touch of phenol with a mild medicinal astringency towards the back-end that I donít exactly dig. A decent dubbel but hard to choose this when so many better, authentic examples are readily available.
