Gusler (2656), Tucson, Arizona, USA Oct 13, 2002 Re-rate 10/13/02: This bottle is a little over 2 years old, so I’m looking forward to the changes. The pour is a deep garnet color, the head insignificant, the lace is skeletal. Nose is malt, light hints of caramel, ’winish’, hints of fusel alcohol. Front is malt, thickly sweet, the top is intermediate, the finish is droughty, discreetly acidic, somewhat sour, unassumingly hopped. There is a bit of ’Tummy’ warming, and a beer I always have in my ’Beer Cellar’, and well worth your effort to try. Ranks #224 on my current 1000 beer master list.
BOLTZ7555 (528), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 17, 2008 Garnet colored...impressive off-white creamy head. Nuttiness, dark fruit, caramel and brown sugar on the nose. You can definitely taste it’s Belgian influences but it just doesn’t stand up to the smaller batch beers in terms of complexity. A nice transitional brew. Inexpensive and tasty, but not amazing. esjaygee (820), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Sep 12, 2008 Mahogany with a medium off-white head. Aroma of fruit, brown sugar, nuts and bubblegum. Taste of brown sugar, nuts, toffee and fruit. Semi-dry nutty finish. stchloe (197), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 11, 2008 Brewed in large quantities reduces the Belgian ale-ness. However, thats makes me like this beer a bit more than others of similar style. badlizard (1525), San Diego, California, USA Sep 10, 2008 On tap at brewery. Golden brown with a fizzy tan head. Malty raisin aroma and taste, but nothing special. hop_lover (149), Corpus Christi, Texas, USA Sep 5, 2008 I think I’m just not a dubble kinda guy. I like the tripple but this was way too bubbly and sweet.
