3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours very clear, pale yellowish gold, small bubbly white head that leaves surprisingly good lace. Aroma has a lot of tropical notes from the hops, mostly mango, slight pineapple and grapefruit , small amount of biscuit underlying. Taste is a mix of tropical and grassy hops, subtle bitterness, very clean, and very sessionable at a 6.2 abv.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. 15cl sample. The aroma has lemon peel, citrus, some earthy yeast tones, some coriander I guess. Bit hazy, yellow coloured beer with a medium white head. The taste is light-moderate bitter, has citrus, dusty yeast tones, some spice. Nice, refreshing. Some carbonation makes it a bit more filling.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Yellow gold, lasting white head. Grapefruit and light pine, austere wheaty malts, crisp bitter finish. A nice lean IPA.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle. It pours a pale yellow color with a decent white head. The aroma is citrusy, lightly dank with some tropical fruit and hints of biscuity malt. The flavor is pretty hop forward with more hop spice than I got in the aroma and some pineapple, mango and citrus. Thereís also that green, raw dough character that I get from most of NBís hoppy beers. Despite the very pale color, there is some biscuits in there as well. Not bad, but probably not one Iíd go for again.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours as a white ale should, hazy, opaque with mild carbonation and small, sudsy head. However, for me, yet another miss for Fat Tire. Maybe they are trying to be Sam Adams. Should be much more yeasty and medicinal. Instead, bland opening with mild bitterness at the end. Another beer not sure what it is.

This is a 75-word sentence or such. I don't feel like writing such a sentence or paragraph, so this will have to do. Read the rates.

2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
A pale yellow, maybe pineapple juice color. Slight haze. Minimal white head. I was expecting maybe something akin to a wit in color, and although itís not real far off, itís not exactly what I was expecting.
Smell is pine and lemon and maybe a touch of Cheez-itz. Some spic e as well, but I canít quite put my finger on it - maybe a bit of clove? Overall, a nice smelling Christmas IPA.
Very carbonated and light bodied.
Taste is fairly subdued. Itís somewhat fruity and piney and not much else. Not really digging it. Itís not real bitter, but it has some bitterness. Not picking the spice in the taste. Kind of blah.

Citrus and decent. Medium bitter finish. Pours golden with good head and lacing. Good balance, and well done. Tap.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
I found this straight forward and boring despite using Mosaic and Amarillo. The pour is a orange hued copper with a thick off white head. The nose is citrus noted with ligth caramel and wheat malts. The hops are subdued but have subtle notes of peach and grapefruit. The finish is lightly spicy with citrus notes and a moderate bitterness.

This is a really excellent beer. Check out my other ratings to see how many beers I give 4 stars- not many (Granted, with the caveat that I tend to only buy the less expensive tier of craft brews when I buy craft brews- this was on sale :) ). Itís a bit reminiscent of a discontinued year round beer by New Belgium called Belgo, which was also an IPA with wheat, and which Iíve missed ever since it got taken off the shelves. I guess I should have checked this out sooner. Still, the two beers are not identical- for one thing, the ABVs are different, but the taste also differs somewhat, albeit not enough that I didnít recognize some similarities. I wonder if this uses the same yeast strain. The hop varieties seem a bit unusual for an IPA, in a good way. This is the second beer I can remember that advertises mosaic hops, and though they were at the time I tried the first beer (A Saranac offering from a mix pack) a very inexpensive and relatively new variety of hop, they have an interesting flavor to them that I think gives you a lot of bang for your buck, and provides an interesting change of pace for even those who donít need to get good bang for their buck. Armarillo hops in here as well. The sweet hops are forward and then you get this really strong bitter bite toward the end of each sip- sort of like the sour patch kids of IPAs. Good stuff. :) I agree with the reviews that say this is a bit light on the malt side, it wouldnít shock me if there was a fairly small malt bill here consisting of a lot of pale malt with maybe only a small amount of something like caramel malt, and then the wheat, but who needs malt when youíve got all these tasty hops? I like that the hops seem to kind of come at you in waves. You drink it and get one distinct taste that flows into a second distinct taste rather than a single flavor that the hops have amalgamated into. Anyhow, Iím almost a little bummed that I only bought a 6 pack and stocked up on beer into January. Hopefully, this isnít sold out and replaced by a spring seasonal next time I hit the liquor store.
