Alpine might be small, but their brewing chops are mighty. We teamed up to create this triple dry-hopped imperial IPA bursting with Columbus, Amarillo, Centennial and Simcoe hops. Consider yourself a hero for getting an Alpine beer outside of San Diego.

Bottle in hotel room prior to flight to Vienna. Hazy gold beer, tidy white head. Palate is soft and airy but with sharp carbonation. Creamy malt. Resinous pine with mellow citrus. Mild aniseed and salty brett. Trace of fresh orange peel. Finishes soft and semi dry with a spicy aftertaste. Pretty good.

In short: A sweet and hoppy pale IIPA with plenty of sweet fresh fruits. Great flavors even if a bit sweet for me.
How: Bottle 22oz, a few bottles from a few people, consumed fresh, thanks guys.
The look: Glowing clear golden-orange body topped by a medium off-white head with good retention.
In long: Nose is an explosion of fruity hops, lots of apricots, also lychees, mangos, some cantaloupes, more... Also a floral component to the aroma. Taste has a big chewy bready malt backbone, a bit doughy, surprisingly cheesy yeasty notes, honey, even some bananas. Pleasant smooth doughy sensation. In mouth the hopping shines with some of the same elements as in the aroma (apricots, lychees, mangos) and adds bitter grapefruits and some green pine needles. Sharp bitterness of medium intensity. I really liked the freshness of fruitiness, the cheesy flavors that work surprisingly well, the doughy sensation and the overall ‘brightness’ of the beer. However what I didn’t like was the sweetness and and the mild alcohol bite. I understand this is an Imperial IPA, however I’m fan of the style and there are plenty 9% Double IPA I could drink multiple bombers of, not this one. This is a beer that will please the sweetness lovers and bitterness lovers, you can kill two birds with one stone by making a beer like this or by dropping a big rock on a hummingbird’s nest.

Pours a pale, slightly hazy wheat golden color with a short, quickly dissipating, nearly white head with no lacing. Obtrusive, but lovely grapefruit and pine. Nice, heavy, almost thick mouthfeel offset by the slightest of carbonation scrubs. Pine, grapefruit, and lemon are the predominant flavors balanced by some underlying sweet malt. Very good beer.

Hazy, yellow-gold, frothy, slightly yellow-white head. Aroma is reminiscent of citronella. Taste is almost syrupy citrus sweetness. A little different aroma and feel from a DIPA...slightly spiced. Pretty good.

Slight hazed gold-light orange. Some lace moderate carb. This one may have been aged for who knows. Aroma of a stronger spice/herbal.With fruit notes-tropcial.Some heavy buiscuit/toast malt. Taste is malty, complex hoppiness with floral- fruit still dominated by a spice-herbal and toastiness.Farily sweet but balanced with bitter. Pretty good imperial but a bit sweet and flat tasteing a little.

Had this one while watching the super bowl this year... unfortunately it was no good luck charm, but a good beer though. Solid DIPA

Initial consumption, just minutes after the growler fill, from a Sam Adams lager glass. Poured clear golden with visible carbonation. The rather sudsy white head leaves the glass partially coated with spots of sticky lace but is not very durable. A: markedly strong hop aroma. High ABV easily detected, at least after warming a bit. T: hints of honey. The hop component starts citrusy but turns piney by the finish, with grapefruit in the aftertaste. Enough malt here is significantly reduce the bitterness from what I would expect give the strong hop aroma and taste. Medium body and carbonation. Slight harshness despite being a 9% DIPA. O: a strongly aromatic and hoppy DIPA without the challenge of extreme bitterness. The hop component is too resiny and not as citrusy as i prefer. Based on small samples of 2 other IPAs before selecting a fill, I’ll like this less that the Stone Anniv. IPA (I’ll be going back for it) but more than the Harpoon Leviathan IPA.

FROTHINGSLOSH (6850) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 9, 2013
From the February 2013 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright golden color with a large creamy yellow-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweetish pineapple, tropical fruits and sugar. The flavor was sweet and yeasty with notes of pineapple, tropical fruits and sugar and touches of pepper and herbal hops underneath. Long finish of pineapple , tropical fruits, sugar and yeast. Moderately full bodied. Excellent.
