Commercial Description:
Climb on in and grab a paddle. Our first foray into lagered beers, Blue Paddle Pilsener-Lager, is a Czech style pilsener with a refreshing crispness from noble hops and a rich, malty finish. ‘Blue Paddle’ refers to the implement our warehouse manager’s Grandma once used to lovingly paddle his a** when she caught him stealing sips of her beer. With more body than a traditional Belgian pils, Blue Paddle is reflective of Europe’s finest pilseners.

Pours pale gold with a 1 finger fuzzy white head that quickly fades to a skim. Aroma is bread, grain, biscuit, a little grass, planty notes and some toast. Flavor is sweet malt, bread, dry grain, white bread crust, some caramel, vegetal notes. Finish is with planty and grassy hops and biscuity malt. Palate is thin and dry throughout with a spritzy carbonation. Doesn’t really do much for me, not too bad though.

Clear gold, abundant white head, only slight lace. Grassy aroma, a lot of noble hops here. Flavor blends the floral to grassy hops, slightly off, husky malts, and an off-style but tasty belgian yeast mustiness. Medium body, soft of the palate, refreshing.

Bottle. Pours a light golden color, slightly hazy. Aroma of sweet citrus and malts. Flavor for the most part matches aroma, slightly dry. Overall, an interesting pilsener that i would buy again - very refreshing.

12oz bottlesss. Pours a clear golden with some fizzy bubbles and a nice dense small fine white froth, looks good. Aroma of light cereal and light noble hops, some flour, fairly clean. Flavor is not quite as clean, still pretty good, some cereal, bitter noble hops, not too sweet thankful, just a bit sweet and grainy in the finish which ruins the illusion. Medium bodied, slightly chewy, crisp carbonation.

"Not bad for a pilsner. Bright yellow pour with aroma of grass and hops. The flavor is more hops than your average pilsner and when served very cold makes for a decent beer. "

12oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear, pale golden body with a foamy, two-finger width, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a lot of streaky, clinging lace. Aroma is a light amount of sweet malts, crisp hops, and fruits. A bit of bread and grass. Flavor is semi-sweet bread malts, lemon, and an above average amount of bitterness. Finishes grassy and very dry with a moderate duration. Palate is medium bodied, smooth and malty. I was hoping for a lighter body. Overall, a fairly bitter pils with a nice balance. The hops are crisp, but a little too full in body. Not bad though.

12 oz. bottle, "mix-a-six" rack at Hy-Vee, Storm Lake, IA. Basic pour with a clear, golden pils color and a thin head of foam in my tumbler. Some oxidation right up front, that never really goes away. Definite all-malt taste with a proper golden pilsener toast. But that skunkiness is staying in the beer, overpowering what should have been a decent brew. Bottle read "Best before 20NOV09," so maybe it sat on the loading dock too long?
