Commercial Description:
Climb on in and grab a paddle. Our first foray into lagered beers, Blue Paddle Pilsener-Lager, is a Czech style pilsener with a refreshing crispness from noble hops and a rich, malty finish. ‘Blue Paddle’ refers to the implement our warehouse manager’s Grandma once used to lovingly paddle his a** when she caught him stealing sips of her beer. With more body than a traditional Belgian pils, Blue Paddle is reflective of Europe’s finest pilseners.

Bottle at McClaren’s. Pours a light golden color with a fair head. The aroma is semi hoppy, certainly good enough to fit the pilsner description. It’s light, only slightly vegetal and crisp. The palate is again light and crisp. A little bit of malt character is here which reminds me of Fat Tire, but this is most certainly a lager. The esters give it away. Flavors of cereal, wood, and biscuits are here. Really, this isn’t a bad yellow lager, but I am puzzled as to why we just got this in the winter time.

Pours a lacing white head with a clear, golden body. Aromas of grassy hops with some malt. Flavor is malty, grassy, and corn. Finish is slightly dry and clean.

Source:12 oz bottle from a six pack.
Glass:Bodum lager glass.
Appearance:Clear yellow pour with a two finger, bubbly white head.
Aroma:Biscuit malts, grass and a hint of flowers. Good Start.
Flavor:Very malt centered, with just a hint of bitter finish. Rather bland flavor.
Palate:Light body with solid carbonation.
Overall:Was rather disappointed in this one, but hey, what’s new. I’m usually disappointed with NBs seasonals. They seem to be very out of place. A pilsner in winter?.

Some floral and fruit aroma. Pale gold color, small head. Mild lemony sweetness, a little bitterness. High carbonation, tight bubbles, pretty crisp finish, some slight lingering bitterness. Overall nice Pilsener.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear and bright, lightly effervescent golden color; fluffy white head with good retention and lacing; nice pour. Light and crisp aroma of toasty malts, citrus, and minerals; mouthwatering and refreshing nose, if a bit quiet overall; a touch of cardboard. Medium mouthfeel: there’s a touch of skunkiness here that’s barely present; beyond that, a toasty maltiness and a solid mineral and citrus bitterness; could be a touch drier at the core, but a decently zesty hop character, solid bitterness, and highly drinkable; would be interested to try this again very fresh, but even now this is a tasty pilsener; again, just a touch too much sweetness at the core. Medium finish of minerals, light bitterness, and some lasting toast and crackery notes.

Bottle at Mad Donna’s in east Nashville. Pours a typical straw golden with a white head. Aroma of pilsner malts. Light bodied, but ALMOST approaching watery. Flavor of pilsner malts, biscuit, and european hops. Very drinkable, but it needs just to turn up the volume on the characteristics a bit

Clear golden pour with light soapy looking head. Aroma of strong noble hops and doughy pils malt. A bit of a grainy flavor with strong noble hops. No detectable skunk or pee. Bubbly, sparkling mouthfeel. Its a pretty ok pilsner when you’re in the mood for that sort of thing.
