4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 AmEricanbrew (4890) - Belcher, Louisiana, USA - FEB 26, 2009
Bottle samples@ Bottleworks, and draft @ Brouwers 25 Feb 2009. Perhaps NB’s best sour ale to date. Hazy amber color. Lots of wood, funk, and citrus/cherry fruits in both the aroma and flavor, with a medium balsamic sourness throughout. This is a less sour, and more drinkable version of La Folie. Great blend.

Bottle at the 4k5k10k tasting. Nice hit of funky wild tartness and acidity, light earthy notes, some floral notes, and a big dry medium acidic finish. Good stuff right here.

On tap at Brouwers during Sour Fest 2010. A hazy brown color with almost no head. The aroma is huge sour wood and fruits. A wonderful dry tart flavor, smooth and fruity. Very sour cherry and brown ale flavors, rich and very nice. One of my favorite’s that day.

Pint – Bottleworks – Seattle, WA
Aroma: Big sour aroma with lots of Belgian yeast.
Appearance: Light amber in color, clear with a thin head.
Flavor: SOUR holy cow Batman this was sour. A huge beer that in time is going to settle down and become a true classic.
Palate: Dry Sweet Sour finish, with a Good Mouthfeel.
Overall: This was truly the most sour beer I have ever had in my life. It was also very drinkable just an awesome brew. To the Matt’s here to another 10.

Poured a hazy amber color with an off-white head. Tart aroma with some lemon notes and light leather. The flavor was also tart and citrusy with some acidity in the throat. Semi-dry finish with a light body. Very tasty.

SourFest II. Courtesy of... BDR? Hazy orange color with a thin head. Aroma of dry grains and horseblanket. Light cherry flavor, heavy malt. A bit of oaky wood and vanilla. Dry and tart. Solid.

Bottle at Clockwork’s 4K/5K/10K gathering. Pours a deep amber reddish brown body with thin off white lacing. Aroma is incredible - sour fruits dominate with funky cherries taking the lead. Mouthfeel is medium and perfectly tart with notes of sour cherries, funk, rich vanilla, oak and a touch of earthiness in the finish. A great sour ale. Awesome!

Very nice, acidic aroma. In the Flanders Red style. Tons of yeast in this beer, both in the aroma and flavor. Cloudy, dark orange color. Fruit, some balsamic, and very good, sour flavor. Comparable to La Folie for sourness.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 kramer (3909) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 19, 2009
25 oz bottle, via 5000. Pours a clear reddish copper body with a very fleeting very fizzy off-white head that completely vanished. The nose is almost Gueuze-like with a dry powdered-sugar, oak, and bretty cobweb funk mixture. Some light cherry skins, balsamic vinegar, and caramel as well. Very acidic and biting on the first taste. Some cherry and caramel sweetness towards the middle, then the brett and oak round things out and linger forever. This is very funky and almost Gueuze-like. Very dry and acetic with lots of fizzy effervescent carbonation. A bit of an oak tannin bite on the finish. Pretty good, but as it warmed there’s a bit of a cereal grain note that I don’t especially care for that came out.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 markwise (3834) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JAN 31, 2012
Bottle shared by the Atlanta crew. Thanks, Grant and company! Pours a hazy brown- orange with an off-white head. Nose is vinegar, balsamic, some light wood, some funk and hints of citrus. Flavor is similar- vinegar and tart fruit meet with some slight funk, but mostly a sour assault. Nice, medium-bodied sour that is doing very well.
