2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 SamGamgee (2452) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - FEB 19, 2012Good hop expression: grassy guava and lemon zest, which is what you would expect from these hops. Quite hoppy and bitter in balance, with a little biscuit and caramel for balance but a dry and bittern finish. Body is in the lighter side and texture is smooth into a light astringency in the finish. The hops do get a little soapy in the finish, which detracts a little. The dry, doughy yeast character becomes a bit much as well. Can’t say I’m a fan. The hop blend sounded promising, but the rest of the beer needs more roundness and balance to be pleasing.

Pours clear copper with about an inch of rocky white head that soon dwindles to a white film - good lacing. Aromas of citrus, lemon, and floral hops w/ some pale malts. Tastes follow with malty sweetness really only coming through as it warms a little. Crisp, med mouthfeel w/ fairly dry finish. Solid pale ale w/ a good hopp character. Straight-forward, nothing outstanding but a good brew. Nice session.

24 carat color and a head that leaves good lacings. Mangos and lemon. Good body with moderate hop bitterness. Unique flavor profile from the hop selection. Nice beer.

Bottle from Total Wine and More. Pours a clear copper with a creamy beige head and good lacing. Nose is a medley of hops, with citrus, flowers, pine, earthiness ,and tropical fruits, Medium in body. Smooth in mouth feel. Flavor is big on the tropical fruit and there is just the right amount of bitterness for an APA. Finishes very flavorful, and dry and lightly bitter. Really tasty.

New Belgium Dig Pale Ale has a thick, creamy, white head and a clear, bubbly, amber appearance, with nice lacing left behind. The aroma is of citrus, hop oil, sugar, and white bread. Taste is of those, with some pleasant and mild bitterness. Mouthfeel is watery and slick, and New Belgium Dig finishes semi-dry, refreshing, and quite drinkable. Overall, this one is very nice, and I score it as being excellent. RJT

12oz bottle. Pour is brown and a ring of white. Aroma is nutty and sweet. Flavors sweet and nutty. Not really seeing the Belgian character. Seems like a decent brown ale.

Some fruit and citrus in the aroma with a very nice malt base. The flavor has the malt but is taken over by the hops. Very refreshing.

Draft. Decent pale ale. Medium bitterness, didn’t pick up too much sorachi notes. Light fruitiness. Average APA
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Stevesie (202) - - APR 30, 2013
Bottle to snifter. Pours a dark gold--almost like brandy or iced tea. About a finger of white, mostly dissipating head. Light to moderate lacing. Nose is slightly skunky with a touch of yeast. Nice mouthfeel. Light zesty fruit, nice hop profile and just a bit of the usual NB earthiness toward the lingering finish. Very good pale.

Tap at Mxs Fells point Balt. This was a nice full bodied, heavier pale ale. A bit too malty bready and heavy for my taste, but nice flavor.
