COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

Tasted on 6/27/16 from a capped 12oz bottle purchased at Main Street. Pours crystal clear, very bright amber with an average beige head that recedes to an average collar of lace. The nose is full of bread malt, some vanilla and spice, with just a bit of herbal hops. The flavor is pretty sweet, dominated by bread malt, just a bit of spice underlying. The body is medium with lively carbonation, and a long very malty finish.

Poured from a bottle. Dark golden color with a small white head. Aroma not too hoppy. Average flavor, not terrible but I won’t buy again.

Clean simole flavor. Malty and author biscuit. Not getting much hops. Body is a bit to heavy to be crushable. More of a take your time drink? Doesn’t really fit any of my beer drinking needs.

Can from Vinmonopolet, Kvadrat. Pours clear deep golden/amber with a big creamy off-white head. Aroma of bready malts, amber malts and some fruity hops. Taste is light sweet bready malts with a pleasant, but weak dry fruity and herbal finish. Well balanced, low carbonated.

0,33 bottle - This is an incredibly well balanced american ale. Flavor has tons of malt, raisin and nuts. A spicy yeast-character and a touch american hops. Really good!

Great beer overall but not anything amazing. Drank this out of a sawed off mason glass at a hole in the wall shop. Pour was great with a 1.5cm head that dissipated faster than expected. Would reccomend this if you like "bock" style beer.
