Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

Bottle. Crisp flavor with mild malts and hops. Easy on the tongue with good carbonation and a good aftertaste. I’d drink this again.

Strong, deep caramel color. Not much nose, slightly bready. Medium body, mild flavor, more airy than appearance.

Clear Golden Amber with a half inch off white head. Smells of light malt with a hint of toffee and caramel, I get a bit of some medium red berries and a touch of bread. Taste is light malt and bread, then a nice nut middle and finish. Not to sweet, a very nice Amber Ale. Its texture is that of an Ale, you can tell by the way it is.

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2016 Bottle at random restaurant, Kissimmee. Pours a clear light amber beer with a medium sized off white head. Aroma has cookies and brown malts in there and is very light. Flavor is light bitter, light toasty and malty. Not too much going on here, just a decent session ale.

Can from SB. Clear Amber with white head. Grass, biscuit, malt, caramel in aroma. Grass. Same in taste, no bitterness, watery mouthfeel.

Lord, that "toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors" is dead-on. Hoppiness, though...not so much. Pretty average, like a baseline by which you can judge all other craft beer.

Like many, this beer was my gateway beer for craft beers. Biscuity flavor, dryer finish. Great beer to always have on hand. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Somehow not rated in past. This is the beer you but in commercial restaurants when they have crappy choices. Typical amber appearance. Standard amber flavor plus some soap. It works when you need a beer
