COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

22 (?) oz bottle. Thanks, Alex. Clear, light amber color with a small, white head. Sweet malty aroma. Lighter but present flavor is slightly on the fruity side. Extremely forgettable, but better than I remembered from a couple years earlier.

Bottle in Chevy Chase. Nice amber body with slight head. Nose is malty, toasty, some sweetness and fruity. Same with flavor with some sweet, caramel and bittnerness, also in the finish.

355ml can bought from djoeye. Frothy off-white head with good retention, leaving lacing rings down the glass. Next to clear orange coloured body. Nose is bread and dried fruits. The taste character is made of mild caramel, ripe apples ,and apricot. Bittersweet to the ending. Medium bodied. Straightforward (in the sun at the balcony, Tromsø 15.08.2015).

Quite random amber ale - some sweet malt and caramel character, but not much hop pressence. Dissapointing.

Bottle650ml. The beer has a light amber color. Clear beer, well filtered. Soft water like mouth feel with medium density texture. Aroma is bread, spiced bread, a bit yeast reminding me fresh, sweet yeasty dough. Fruity esters with a bit pear and apricot. Flavor is a bit dull and going into dry dough with esters. Bitterness is delicate with some clove in the aftertaste. Easy to drink but not much character.
