COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

Bready, papery, barnyard hay. Poor foam. Thin with linger of raisins and dry wood. Not interested in another.

@ Basunen 15-3-28: ganska klen doft av söt malt och smör. Smaken är även den ganska diskret. Ölen har en mycket trevlig och fyllig munkänsla men det är en ganska diskret bira. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone ---- Soberness not garanteed!

Bottle. Pour is clear, deep amber with a thin, lingering head leaving a little lacing. Aroma is malt and fruity. Taste is crisp with a malty beginning and middle with a hint of hops in the finish. Fruity subtext is present throughout. Overall, this one lives up to the hype for me. A clean, refreshing beer with a complex flavor.

Flaska från SB. Riktigt snygg etikett. Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell, bröd, smör och torkad frukt. Trött i smakerna, saknar fruktighet och kropp, stor sötma, lätt maltbeska

Pours a light, amber color with very little head retention and lacing. Has no particular aroma, but smells of malt and slightly sweet. Tastes malty and sweet, not bitter or hoppy at all. A decent beer at best.

Nah not for me, not much aroma, almost Belgian like with yeast and bread notes in aroma and flavor, both dominate, fine for some styles but nit this one.

355 ml bottle. Pours a clear, golden amber with a small off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel and bread. Sweet malty flavour with caramel, a hint of fruit and a dry, bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation.

Aroma is super sweet, with caramel and bread notes up front. The taste is creamy and soft, and you get those amber ale notes that I’m not that fond of. The aftertaste is slightly bitter. Lovely design on the can. Regardless, it is a very balanced beer, and if you like amber ale’s, go for it!
