COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

This is my all time favorite beer. Discovered in Yellowstone, can’t get in PA.

Draft. Clear amber pour, minimal white head with some decent lacing. Fruity aroma, caramel. Taste is toffee, a little dark resin in the finish.

This is a standard Amber ale. Nothing super special about other than its wide distro and happy hour specials at bars with too much stock.

A little bitter in the aftertaste...but to be expected. Rather light for a self described amber ale. True to name in color. A bit more carbonated than expected.

Sampled on draught in Chicago as Fat Tire 8. Clear amber colour with a white head. Sweetish aromas. The taste is also quite sweet, with notes of raisins and dates. Not particularly bitter, but very pleasant.

12 oz. bottle from Trader Joe’s. Amber pour with tan head. Light herbal and malty aromas.Taste is is nicely malty and biscuit-like upfront, with just enough bitterness from the hops to balance out the flavor. There’s a hint of light fruit and spice. Not too sweet. Not too hoppy. Not too rich. A crisp and enjoyable amber ale.

Bottle. A nice amber colour with frothy white head that quickly dissappears. Malty aroma and taste, some nutiness.

Have tried several times from different sources and always have mixed thoughts. Quite drinkable but nothing spectacular

Clean, light malts in the aroma, not eatery, no off aromas. The flavor has a nice bread/biscuit note from the malt, hops are supportive, enjoyable crisp finish.

Sample at Örebro Öl & Whisky 2014. Very light smell with some fruit. Similar taste with some caramel. I thought this would contain hops but there was hardly any present. Old beer?
