COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

Nose initially hoppy. Flavour is predominantly malty, with good fruitiness and a hint of cinnamon like spice. Light and crisp, a bit like a ale/lager. Pale amber body. Easy drinking

Bubbly head. Fresh smell. Refreshing flavor with a solid malty body. A bit like a 50/50 lager/ale product with a bready finish.

Draught at ACBE. Surprising cinnamon cereals and strawberry flavors dominate, quite unusual, sweet finish. A bit of a disappointment, not what I’d expect from such a popular brewery.

33 cl systembolaget. En helt ok burköl men inte mer. Men denna kommer säkert att förekomma i någon bastu i sälen nästa vinter.

Tap at CBB. Finally rating this after all these years. Deep gold-amber, clear, low head. Malty nose, biscuits, caramel, a bit of grass. Sweet and malty, a bit of hops. Ok.

A 12 fl oz bottle with an enjoy by date of 19th July 2015 and poured into a pint glass. It poured an extremely clear deep copper colour with a one finger white head that dissipates quickly. Slightly weak aromas, but there’s biscuit and bread like notes, slight caramel and also a touch of apple. Taste is quite similar to the aroma. I get biscuit malts, caramel and some apple juice. I’m not really getting that much hops. Medium bodied and medium to high carbonation. Overall this was decent and easy to drink but not amazing. I wouldn’t actively seek it, but if I could find a fresher bottle, I’d try it.

Pours a dark golden color white a slight thin head with minimal lacing. Aroma of nuts, bread and, orange/citrus. Taste of malt, hops, and citrus that has a slight bitter after bite. A good beer.

Fresh and hoppy, I've always loved this beer. It's great in a bottle or on draught, but don't let it get warm, or it gets bitter. Between this and Fraziskaner, I choose this every time; the flavor is fuller and well-rounded.l ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
