COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

Had from six-pack - 12 oz. bottle from BevMo. Pours amber in color, slight tan head. Aroma is malty with slight hop undertones. Taste is fairly weak for an amber, nicely balanced, but doesn’t show off any flavors well. Nice nutty flavors linger afterwords. A solid, consistent amber, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Sweet aroma that I like. Strong flavor of caramel malt, dry on the palate. Just a "good" Amber. A little sweeter than what I prefer for this style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an amber brown with a thick white head, mild hop, malt aroma. Nice malty back bone with a slight hint of hops. Full of body and hints of cocoa. Very easy drinking beer, good choice for a malty session beer.

Amber colored when poured. No hop aroma. Malty in aroma. Has a very roasted malt taste. Light body to this one. A bit to flat for my tastes.

Bottle. Pours a light amber color with an off white head. Aroma is of citrus, grassy and piney hops with some caramel malts. The flavor follows the nose with notes of pine, grassy and citrussy hops with some flavors of caramel, sweet and biscuity malts. The body is light to medium with dry mouth feel. Overall an above average brew.

Nutty, smooth, not hoppy. Almost more like a brown without the fullness. More of a summer to fall beer.
