Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

This ale poured a lightly cloudy, medium amber colour with a big, foamy, off white head. Nice lacing. To the nose there are scents of grassy hops, citrus, bread and ... First sip was nice and medium bodied with flavours of nuts, caramel, toast and dough. Finish is hoppy and a little bitter with the toasted malt lingering.

(New Belgium Fat Tire) 650 ml bottle at home, served into an english pint glass, ABV 5.2% Golden amber coloured body, crystal clear, with small bubbles in it rising lazily to the surface. Something more than two fingers of mostly white, thick head, with average retention. Aroma of caramel, toffee, grass, light biscuit. Sweet taste, with caramel, toffee, cookie dough, biscuit, light grass, faint bitter finish, soices every now and then. Medium body, good carbonation. Good.

En välbalanserade Ale helt klart. Maltig, brödig, söt. Lite lätt humle fruktig men mest malt. En lagom beska. Bra öl men jag tycker den är lite tråkigt. Väldigt lättdrucken dock och man kan lätt dricka fler efter varandra. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Fado. Clear deep medium amber with a large frothy beige head. Lots of lace. Filling caramel malts. Sweet woody, spicy, floral hops. Not bad - but nothing extraordinary. Makes for a good session beer.

Aroma caramel, grass, herbs, Appearance amber, clear, frothy, white foam, Taste light sweetness, Palate light body, thin feel, average carbonation, Overall a little more flavorful than a Miller lite but not by much. I would not suggest this beer to a friend

Good beer, not great. There are plenty of others that I'd prefer, but plenty that I wouldn't. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice deep amber body, thick white head. Smells of spice and hops, taste is sweet, but not overpowering, carmel, spice and some fruitiness. Finish has a little bitter bite, that fades quick.

Easy, accessible amber with enough malt body to be interesting. Mild floral hops do not overwhelm the body.

Suutuntuma on hieman makea, katkerot tuntuvat jälkimaussa hieman.

Teleurstellend.
