This ale poured a lightly cloudy, medium amber colour with a big, foamy, off white head. Nice lacing. To the nose there are scents of grassy hops, citrus, bread and ... First sip was nice and medium bodied with flavours of nuts, caramel, toast and dough. Finish is hoppy and a little bitter with the toasted malt lingering.

I had it from the bottle. The taste is up front with malt. It’s caramel and honey with hints of grain. It’s pretty dry and crisp. This was pretty clean and sessionable. It didn’t really stand out though.

Tap at Clubhouse BFD. Pours clear honey. White head. Aroma is typical light cream ale, beer. Flavor is similar. Ehh. Not good.

Bottle. Crisp and malty but lacking in oomph. I can remember this being better the last time I was in the States to try it, but then again that was following a glass of Lone Star so was bound to be taste fairly good after that!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Comes from the tap a bubbly copper with thin, off-white head that recedes quickly but leaves some skim.
Aroma is biscuit, chestnuts, sweet malt. Palate follows with hints of white pepper and vanilla in sweetish malt, nicely spicy finish.
A mild, sessionable American take on classic Belgian ale for those who enjoy beer more than they follow hype.

One of my favorite go to beers. Not the best in the world but a sold flagship beer

From the bottle. Fun interplay between the malt and hop notes. Little sweet amber note. Well balanced, enjoyable.

12-ounce bottles poured into a pint glass. One of the better amber ales I have tried.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
DATE: April 10, 2016... OCCASION: recovering from a sleepless cub scout night at Liberty Science Center with The Force Awakens... GLASSWARE: Barley Creek pint.. APPEARANCE: brilliant rush of active effervescence busies a bright copy body... head is thick, cambered like fresh snowfall, and off-white, creamy... AROMA: thick, toasted bread malts that hold this sense hostage... a soft, flowery bouquet celebrates aromatic hops, while slight spiciness--pepper and vanilla--gives dimension to the experience... PALATE: medium-bodied, welcoming and sessionable... bears a crunch at the teeth and a lingering patience in its leaving... a dry creaminess pervades... TASTE: .a lot happening in this one: biscuit, toasted malts, chestnuts, and some toffee make a back-end treat, while the light hops provide an aromatic, garden fragrance that softens its impact... then, pepper, vanilla, orange zest and ginger root... OVERALL: a worthwhile standalone, or a session ale at 5.2% that is decidedly American... the balance is tough to argue with, even though the malts are front and center...

Beautiful amber with a white lasting head. Sweet with a slightly bitter finish. A great one to share with friends.
