Frambozen begins with the aroma of fresh red raspberries, followed by the ripe seductiveness of a fruity brown ale with depth and delicate malt notes. It is deep ruby in color, with flavors just as rich. Every year, New Belgium sends a delegate to the Pacific Northwest to oversee the process of turning freshly picked berries into a pure juice to be added in fermentation. The coming of Thanksgiving at New Belgium is ushered in with the first sighting of our cellar operators scuttling about, covered head to tow in a festive crimson berry wash.

[Tap] Pours a nut-brown color with a nice cream colored head. Mild fruit and marmalade in the aroma. Sweet raspberry, peach, floral hops, toffee and toasted bready taste. Slightly chalky mouthfeel. Not overly sweet, which is nice. Tasting notes from 2/2014.

355ml bottle into a shaker glass; served cold. Aroma: Raspberry jelly. Mild, but definitely fruity and juicy. Appearance: Clear, amber body with a handsome, full head that dissipates at a moderate rate. Moderate-thick lacing. Taste: Raspberry jam. Lots of juicy raspberries. It tastes almost like hard candies. Palate: Medium bodied, very light carbonation. Quick finish and ends on lightly sweet raspberries. Overall: Quite a nice fruit beer. Juicy and delicious.

Great raspberry smell out of the bottle upon opening. Taste quick tart raspberry going down but not much of a finish. Not bitter pretty good and enjoyable for the holiday season. Head fades fast no lacing typical of a fruit beer. Reminds me of Pete’s wicked winter ale from about 12 years ago.

Bottle on bus en route to MWBF 14. Sweet and fermented aromas. Too sweet and gross.

Funky malt fruit aroma and cloudy brown color. An interesting flavor with the brown ale base. Not my favorite fruit beer, but original and unique.

Absolutely within a traditional flavor profile. Please give a try and enjoy with pbj or a Spanish goat chorizo, you will not be disappointed.

Bottle - Raspberries and toasted malts. Clear dark amber with a bubbly beige head. Raspberry and some malts with a sweet finish. Just raspberry would have been to much, the dark toasted malts gives it a nice depth. Unfortunately this is still not that great.

Bottle: Red-orange-amber with a short, off-white head. Raspberry/caramel scent. Tart raspberry, malty, sweet toffee taste. Almost a lactic slickness to the body.
