Ale brewed with Lemon Peel and infused with Espresso
Giddy Up is a delicious juxtaposition of coffee, sustainably grown in Brazil and espresso-roasted locally, pressed into an ale with the deep color of a copper cowboy kettle. First whiff is full of sweeet caramel, toffee, latte. Then, a hint of lemon scone flavor from the addition of lemon peel. Body is creamy, resonant of espresso, yet the finish is bright, even a bit frisky. An ale to git along with...

Iím used to coffee stouts and porters (and am a big fan), this one was great in a totally different way. Very good balance between coffee and lemon, which I never thought would work, not as earthy or toasty as the flavors in coffee stouts or porters. So far Iíve only seen this as part of a sampler, at least you get 4 of them in it though.

This is a lighter beer with a bit of lemon peel and it is infused with espresso that is a real bang.

Dark amber with off white head. Nice, strong coffee aroma. Same in the flavor. Just a touch of citrus.

Bought this as part of a mixed pack on my hunting trip last year. I donít really like coffee or lemon, so this score is about where youíd expect from me, maybe even a little high, as you can easily discern both flavors. Forgot the bottle opener, so I had to use the deerís brow tine to open the bottles. Gotta find something when youíre thirsty!

12oz bottle. Medium beige head atop crystal clear copper body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, coffee, light toffee. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, some coffee, light lemon, chocolate. Light-medium body, light stickiness.

Have I mentioned that most of New Belgiumís beers taste like Fat Tire except for many of the Lips of Faith series?

Wow, this is actually pretty good. Clear mahogany brown pour with very faint diminishing offwhite head. Nose smells of chestnuts and espresso beans. Big malty/nutty flavor with more toffee and caramel. I donít find the lemon peel other than perhaps a slight bitterness of zest. The coffee is very remote, and in my opinion, the way it should be. A slight bit metallic and vegetal though. Decent job on this.

Man, this is a pretty good beer. Dark with a nice espresso kick and a twist of lemon. Thereís very little bitterness, just enough to know youíre drinking beer. This is a fine one.

Dark brown with a beige head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Flavors of roasted, chocolate, roast coffee and resin

Pours a very dark amber with a small tan head mostly dissipating. Nose is coffee and malt. Fairly creamy on the palate, the taste is of coffee, slightly burnt malt, toffee and a slightly dry hop finish. Lemon peel is lost in the coffee flavor. Good beer but not top tier.

An unexpected new favorite for me. Won't replace Breakfast Stout anytime soon, but it's got a great coffee nose/taste for such a (relatively) light beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
