3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber. Nondescript lager aroma. Crystal clear gold with a thick frothy mostly white head. Flavor is much more interesting than the aroma would suggest. Peppery and moderately hoppy. Quite lovely.

The spice of the hops and the spice of he rye fight each other here and mess it all up. In fact every beer I have had from new Belgium since the early years of la folie has been messed up. I swore them off a while ago and this beer is reminding me to abandon them again. Do not spend money here it sucks and every new beer they come out with will suck as well.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber. Clear golden pour with a two finger, foamy white head. Subtle aromas of citrus, yeast and rye. Initial sweet flavor with light spices turned to a sharp, soapy finish. Well carbonated with a dry texture. Refreshing but wasnít crazy about how these ingredients blended together.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled on 3/19/2013. This heller bock pours a light yellow orange gold color from a 22 oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, with some grain and some spiciness. A light to medium bodied heller bock. The malts are fruity, caramel and sweet. The hops are earthy and slightly spicy. Decent carbonation. Itís a little thin for a heller bock, but there is some nice fullness under the surface of this beer. Itís very drinkable, and would almost make a really nice session ale if it werenít nearly 7% alcohol. Touch of rye spiciness as well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
