hoppy bock pours a rich golden with a fine head of small white bubbles. Nose is sharp with floral hops. Taste is dry crisp and clean. Mild malt in mid taste. Finishes with good slow warming hop bitters. Nice beer

This is a good german / Belgian style brew. I had it aged a year an a half. Not much hop taste. Good malt balance.

March 26th, 2013 - A hoppy lager? That’s not a strong associative connection in my mind, but I’m eager to try it, especially given that it’s from my home state. To all appearances it’s a golden ale, with a light, hazy body and a generous pillowy top. Ambitious though the foam may be, the aroma is gentle, with a very French combination of pear and butter, and a squeeze of herbaciousness, almost as if from Angostura bitters. Parsley and the herbal side of hops add to the sensation that I’m picking weeds in an herb garden, alongside the scent of corn meal, or just dry, milled corn - very enjoyable, and very verdant. The flavor is more rollicking, with lots of suds and foam to batter the tongue, and exhausting itself quickly, rendering it flat by the aftertaste. The tastes themselves begin with lavender, and then honey and butterscotch appear in the mid taste. The alcohol is light, making this an especially short evening sipper.

Draft. Hazy deep golden color, fluffy white head with nice retention and lacing. Nice aroma of light spice, flowers. Taste is earthy, lightly spiced, subtle pine and citrus. Very tasty.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance-The beer pours a golden coppery color with a one finger billowy white head. The head slowly fades over time to leave a decent level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The aroma is heaviest of some biscuit malt with a touch or roasted malt within. Along with these smells so too are some aromas of caramel and a bit of grass, some citrus and small amounts of pine.
Taste – The taste began with a malty and somewhat sweeter flavor upfront. The malt is of biscuit and some lightly toasted bread while the sweet is largely of a caramel nature. The hop flavors quickly follow the initial taste with them being largely of a floral nature early on. As the taste advances however more hop flavor comes to the tongue with flavors of pine, a citrus and some grassy hop grow more intense as the flavor advances to the end. With a light orange citrus and tropical fruit coming along the time all the hops come, in the end one is left with a pleasant not too hoppy and not too sweet flavor on the tongue.
Mouthfeel –The body of the beer is on the medium side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is a bit on the higher and finer side. A bit of a thicker (less champagne like) carbonation may have suited the tastes of the brew slightly better, but the medium body was spot on for the blend of hop, malt and sweeter flavors giving the brew a rather nice feel overall.
Overall – A quite tasty and enjoyable brew overall. It is one to try if you have a chance.

"The description of this beer was intriguing. It was ok, but really didn’t live up to expectations. A good food beer, but there’s not enough to really catch my interest as a stand-alone. Light in color and body, and surprisingly light on the hops given the name. The slight spice from the rye and a light bready malt backbone put this just over average, but barely."

Aroma is fresh sweet malts and a citrus and clove hop body. Some earthiness in the body. The taste is sweet light bodied malt with some light bitterness that is quite well balanced.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste biscuit, sweet, earthy. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.

This excellent lager is cloudy and the color is light. The hops are distinct. The only complaint is that the malt flavor is a little understated. Thus, there is a slight imbalance between malt and hops. However, it is an excellent beer.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Appearance: Yellow, small tight bubbles, a little hazy.
Smell: I got subtle Peach in the smell.
Taste: First reaction to the taste was of sweetness, then some hop character kicked in mid-taste.
Mouthfeel: Light body
Drinkability: I was really looking forward to this. Bocks are a style of beer that can be so delicious. But this one missed the mark for me. Not sure how fresh this was. Overall, it was… muted. Tough to put into words. And I wasn’t digging the hazy pour. Hmmmmm.

Love the murky golden pour w/ a big white head that leaves a lot of lacing. Delightful hop aroma. The taste has some undertoning bitterness but finishes pretty clean while leaving a decent amount of flavor on the palate. It’s smooth going down & a very good beer overall!
