Draft at Beer Bistro. Thin head with attractive lacing action. Gold color just to the point of turning amber. Looks and tastes pretty malty, even chewy, without that much hop at the start. Halfway through the tulip glass, I start to pick up some of the European hop note, but it never gets overpowering. Then right at the end I caught a little bite of yeasty bock spice, a reminder that this is a style that can turn to bananas very easily. But this beer doesn’t.

This excellent lager is cloudy and the color is light. The hops are distinct. The only complaint is that the malt flavor is a little understated. Thus, there is a slight imbalance between malt and hops. However, it is an excellent beer.

Appearance: Yellow, small tight bubbles, a little hazy. Smell: I got subtle Peach in the smell. Taste: First reaction to the taste was of sweetness, then some hop character kicked in mid-taste. Mouthfeel: Light body Drinkability: I was really looking forward to this. Bocks are a style of beer that can be so delicious. But this one missed the mark for me. Not sure how fresh this was. Overall, it was… muted. Tough to put into words. And I wasn’t digging the hazy pour. Hmmmmm.

Love the murky golden pour w/ a big white head that leaves a lot of lacing. Delightful hop aroma. The taste has some undertoning bitterness but finishes pretty clean while leaving a decent amount of flavor on the palate. It’s smooth going down & a very good beer overall!

Served in a pint glass: pours a very light copper(was expecting something darker then found out it is a heller bock) with a fluffy head of creamy white foam - really fatastic head retention & lacing The bouquet gives off a floral midly citrusy scent while the aroma adds biscuit & bread notes. Light slightly slick body, clean hop earthy herbal bitterness with a subtly nutty or biscuit malt kick. The finish cleans your palate leaving you with a puckering sensation and lingering hop notes. Interesting stuff, not really my thing but I can see the appeal. This would go great as an afterwork beer or on a hot day outside. The style is supposedly a bock brewed for spring and I can totally see that. Nicely done.

Pleasant, hoppy and sweet aroma. Pours a golden orange with a thick head. Fairly smooth if a bit flat. Slightly sweet finish. A nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma is of wheat and dry hops. The hops, as I sip the beer, take on a character of grass and some citrus. The taste is very balanced between sourness and biterness. The palate is mostly strong, albeit with an unimpressive finish. That said, quite a good beer. (Note: after drinking, I checked and saw that this bottle was a bit past the due date... and it’s still quite good, so that says something. Now I just need to try it fresh!)

Bottle: Slightly hazy gold, white head. Fruity, light pine....hop aroma. Orange malt, pine taste. Rather more like an APA than a bock.... Pretty nice, though.

Bottle. Musty barley malt aroma. Slightly hazy honey gold with a small white heat. Sweet brown bread / barley malt and sweet orange hops flavor. Medium body, soft carbonation. Meh.

Bottle pours a yellowish copper color with a lacy off white head. Notes of caramel, earth, toffee, ammonia, fresh "green" hops, and spicy grains. Balanced malt profile with a great hop bite.
