Gobs of Riverbend Malt House’s rye, paired with heaps of Simcoe, Galaxy, Cascade, and Mosaic hops, make for one great RYE IPA. Expect some nice spicy notes and aromas to take flight.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a nice clear amber color with a huge billowy and thick head of off white foam. The head has an amazing level of retention, very slowly fading over time to leave a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of a pine hop smell mixed with a nice rye bread aroma. Along with these smells comes some coriander and a bit of a citrus and earthy hop, giving a very nice and slightly dank aroma overall. Taste – The taste begins with a ton of a rye bread flavor with just a hint of a caramel sweetness. Along with the strong rye is a good showing of a pine hop taste as well as a decent showing of coriander spice. The rye and the pine grow stronger and stronger as the taste moves on further to the end. All the while the caramel fades while some earth and a bit of a cracker taste move onto the tongue. With the big increase in the rye bread and pine and the other flavor transitions that occur, one is left with a slightly drier and nice dank rye bready taste to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is rather low. For the rye and the dank hop the feel is fantastic and makes for a great medium for accentuating all the nice taste of the brew. Overall – This was a rather nice and tasty rye beer overall. I rather enjoyed this one and hope NB will make it a regular in their line up.

Flush with citrusy (tangerine and lime), pine, and pithy hips in the aroma and flavor paired with a nicely dry, peppery/ spicy rye finish with hints of toasted malt; love the dominance of the Mosaic hops; another great, very flavorful IPA from New Belgium.

12oz bottle as part of the Spring Folly Revival 12-pack... Pours clear copper/golden... nice white head that leaves great lacing.. Rye crisp dry toastiness is very abundant and so are CCC hops... Definitely compliment each other and are not out of whack... Nice dry finish with a great rye element.. Bitter hops help dry things out... very tasty and begs for another sip.

New batch...same hops and almost the same label as in photo but 6.6%abv. Pourse gold with head and lace in St Bernardus glass. Aroma of fresh straw hops and grains, tropical fruit juice. Significant carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of rich grains, amber malts, straw and pine hops, minerals, hay, bitter herbs. Overall rich, flavorful, bright, a little rough but nice.

Bomber bottle. Orange amber color, with very light orangish head that dissipates slowly with no lacing. Taste is perfect balance of malt and hops. Bitterness is a little earthy, touch of citrus, a bit of spicy rye evident. Medium bodied with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Overall, a delicious IPA!
