Gobs of Riverbend Malt House’s rye, paired with heaps of Simcoe, Galaxy, Cascade, and Mosaic hops, make for one great RYE IPA. Expect some nice spicy notes and aromas to take flight.

From bomber into snifter, pours your traditional rich amber IPA with a thick and frothy vanilla head and a solid curtain of lacing. Malty yet bright rye nose. Mamma Mia that's smoove, better balanced and professionally polished as compared to Green Flash Road Warrior which can leave a touch of road rash...could be the lower ABV. Reminds of the initial batch of SN's Ruthless Rye a few years ago. The Hop Kitchen cooked up a winner. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Expected a rye peppery thing going on but just did not find it. Citrus aroma and Citrus flavor with maybe a mild rye flavor in the background. Not going to complain too much because this was still a very enjoyable brew, but was expecting more rye.

I appreciate the high alcohol content. Wouldn’t expect anything less from an IPA. The Rye flavor is hard to spot, so it tastes pretty standard to me.

Fairly standard pale ale with a bit of rye. Not a bad beer, but not an exciting beer.

Bottle at Evernote in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is mild pine, some peppered earth. Taste is a pretty straight-forward IPA. Mild flavors with some wet murky mossy notes.

Pours clear amber with frothy white head. Aroma carries effervescent bitter grapefruit citrus with hints of sappy spruce. Flavor sweet and rounded with a quick bitter edge. The carbonation cuts the palate short but leaves a small amount of citrus. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured into a chalice. Nice caramel appearance with a hint of redness. Minimal head. Aroma is hard to identify but has some hay and earthy scent, but definitely there is a hint of BO in there. And now for the taste. This beer is absolutely astringent, bordering on acrid. There are no significant flavors to offset this IPAs bitter character. It takes a special blend of aromas and flavors to make a good IPA, and in my opinion NB fell flat on this one as they do with most of their IPA efforts.

Bottle. Clear amber pour with an off white head. Citrusy, moderate bitterness, grapefruit, rye, and a bit watery. Decent IPA.

12 oz bottle leftover from my work’s chili cook-off. Poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Best by May 22, 2016. Clear golden amber with off-white head. Aromas of citrus, rye, light floral. Tastes of grapefruit citrus, floral notes, light rye. Medium body with a dry finish.
