Five hops and four malts make Hoptober Golden Ale a veritable cornucopia of earth. Pale and wheat malt are mashed with rye and oats to create a medium-bodied ale with creamy mouth feel. Centennial, Cascade, Sterling, Willamette and Glacier hops form a bonfire of citrus notes, fruity cheers and a bold finale. ABV: 6% 40 IBU Available in 6-packs and on draught

Rated on 9-13-2009 (Bottle-Best Before: 12Feb2010) This beer forms a small fizzy white head with a short retention, transparent golden body, very little carbonation observed, and spotty amounts of lacing. The Aroma is wheat malt, bitter, citrus hops, and fruity. The Taste is bitter, some rye, fruity, and citrus hops. The Palate is tingly and semi-fizzy and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, there is a definite hop presence, but not overly so. This is a tasty beer from this brewery, worth trying, and a beer I would drink again.

September 2011. From bottle. Golden color with a white head. Aromas of malt, hops, spice and light fruit. Good balance, good hoppiness. A bit of citrus on the finish.

Notes from 2012 Fall for Greenville New Belgium tasting session. Plenty of hop aroma.fresh, fruity, and clean. Complex hop mix, with fruity, herbal and floral aspects, but featuring citrus with lemon, orange, lime and grapefruit, in that order. A hint of charred weed. Very pleasant and fruity. T: More hops than malt, for sure, yet balanced only slightly more bitter than sweet. Quite fruity with some orange peel and earthy hops in the lingering aftertaste. M: well carbonated; medium-light body. A bit of dryness in the clean finish. Overall: Definitely better (and fruitier!) than expected, especially for style. Easy drinking and would make for an excellent session beer.

A - This beer has a clear golden body with a 3/4 inch tight white head. Small patches of lacing. S - Grassy hops with notes of straw, oranges, honey, floral spice on top of a sweet malt base. T - Starts off with a green grassy bitterness that turns to candy grapefruit sweetness. A prevalent malt backbone adds character that blends and balances all the green together. There’s some tartness towards the end that adds good dimension. Finishes dry and spicy. M - Light to medium body average carbonation. One of the best I’ve had of this style. Love the hop profile and the malt is actually what makes this a winner. The burps taste like leafy green hops. Top of the line. Serving type: bottle 10-25-2010

Where did this beer come from? I tried it at an Oktoberfest tasting and expected something very different., anticipating an incorrect labeling. The label is correct and this is a pretty solid golden. Dry, with some light citrus sweetness and spices. Golden appearance.

The head is ok, the nody dark brown. It smells hoppy and a bit grassy. The taste is very hoppy, bitter-aromatic, malty, a bit grassy-dry. Nice one! 11/12/12/12/11/12

Pours amber with a beige head. Malty aroma with citrus and pine notes. Smooth malty flavor with nice hop bitterness. Slightly creamy mouthfeel with medium carbonation.

Draft from Green Leafe Newtown. Pours coppery dark straw with off-white head. Nose was marzeny malt, substantial hops, mild earthy nutty notes. Tasted malty, marzeny, with a big hop flavor and a complex finish.
