3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Originally reviewed: 8/24/09. Nice to see another NB brew on the shelves here. Pours a light gold with a big frothy white head on top. Great retention and it leaves some nice lacing on the glass edge. Smells like oranges, lemons, and candy.
The mouth is crisp and clean. Plenty of carbonation on this one. The taste is interesting. Pretty citrusy and hoppy. This is like a tamed down IPA. This is not bad. It’s not your typical "October" beer, but it’s good. Refreshing and tasty.

Bottle with best y Nov 2011 consumed on March 23, 2012. Appearance is gold with visible effervescence and a big head. Taste and flavor are gentle and sweet malt with some honey citrus tones. Very refreshing creamy body. Drinkable as hell several months past expiration!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured into a snifter. Transparent golden color with a finger of head.
Citrus smell, with a backdrop of malt. Grapefruit and sour (good) dominate the citrus.
Strong bitter taste throughout, a little sweetness rounds it out. Straightforward profile and enjoyable.
High carbonation, light body and crisp.
As a golden ale it bring more flavor than normal, which is good. Not my favorite style but definitely worth trying.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pale straw yellow with a fluffy head that falls away fairly quickly. The aroma is sweet, fruity graininess. The flavor is sprightly lemony hop and a grainy, toasty malt bite. Good drinkability.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
This ale poured a Clear amber colour with a fizzy, off white coloured head. To the nose there are scents of strong hopps. Citrus and spruce with a hint of celery. First sip was alot more watery than I thought from the smell. Flavours of orange /lemon citrus most prodominant. Other flavours of grass and spruce a close second. Finish is hoppy but not as bitter as you’d expect.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The aroma, true to the Hoptober name, has some moderately strong floral hops. As I sip, I can also get a hint of wheat. Unlike many beers that emphasize hops, though, this has almost no bitterness. It’s a quite smooth beer. I like it. This would probably be a great beer for people trying to transition to pale ales who aren’t quite ready for the bitterness of intensive hops.
