3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle poured into a shaker. This beer was a gift, purchased from a gas station near Belleville, IL.
NBHGA doesn’t have a strong aroma but what is there is of mild citrus and malt.
It pours pours clear and golden (aptly named) with a smallish white head. The too-cold temperature may account for the small head.
The flavor is really special, being reminiscent of pizza crust. It has an olive oil and autumn leaves flavor. The hops and malt are balanced quite nicely.
The palate is very typical, middle-of-the-road craft beer. It has little to no distinguishing qualities, good or bad.
Basted on the taste of this beer, it is the most interesting beer I’ve had in a quite a while. Even if it doesn’t turn out to be your style it is worth trying.
I listened to Johnny Shines while drinking this beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
what a nice surprise, especially being a sale beer! aroma is very well balanced light citrus and earthy hops and malt. soft on the palate, and tasty, even though the hops come through a touch more in the aroma than the smell. Very very nice seasonal for just over a buck a bottle. recomended. 10/18/09-had on tap for the first time. even softer on the palate...near perfect body for the style, and still very tasty and aromatic."

A: Pours a golden ale with a single finger head that goes down to a sheet of the same. Excellent clarity. Rings of lace.
S: Citrusy and pleasant. Really great nose here, distinctly orange and lemon. Nice.
T: Sharp hops and sweet malts. Great flavor is just as citrus laden as the nose.
M: Medium bodied with moderate carb. Semi dry finish.
O: Good beer. Easy to drink. Reminds me of fresh Bitter American. Very sessionable.

This was a 3 year old bottle, poured light golden. Nose slight sour, syrupy malt, and dank hop. Taste sweet malt and bitter bite, faint spiciness. Mild bitter finish. I realize it was past date, but not too bad.
