Five hops and four malts make Hoptober Golden Ale a veritable cornucopia of earth. Pale and wheat malt are mashed with rye and oats to create a medium-bodied ale with creamy mouth feel. Centennial, Cascade, Sterling, Willamette and Glacier hops form a bonfire of citrus notes, fruity cheers and a bold finale. ABV: 6% 40 IBU Available in 6-packs and on draught

Nose is malt, some caramel sweetness, a hint of clove perhaps, and some yeast. Pours golden yellow, with a nice finger or two of fluffy white head. Taste is smooth malt, again the caramel, a bit of banana, some almost Belgian-esque yeast that gives a creamy mouthfeel. Full, yet not heavy on the palate. Great fall beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear medium golden with thin off-white head. Aroma is lightly roasty caramel malt, grassy vegetal hops on the back. Taste is toasted pale malt, rich wheaty undertones give it nice depth. Hops are fresh, lightly juicy, slightly grassy, finish clean. This strikes me as more of a pale ale, nice and refreshing either way.

It’d probably call this an APA based on taste. It’s golden yellow, clear w/ lace in a million little spots. This has a nice, gentle hopiness to it--quite floral w/ an edge of citrus. There is a bit of sweet breakfast cereal type malt and solid bitterness in the finish. It’s medium bodied lightened by very vigorous carb and overall very drinkable and nice. This is a real tasty beer w/o being overbearing. I like it.

Pours a slightly cloudy yellow orange with a relatively thin film of head. Notes of citrus rind in the nose. Pretty light flavor, there’s that biscuity malt you expect from New Belgium, with a bit of a hoppyness to offset it. It’s interesting, though a bit more bland in flavor than i would like.

Slightly dry hops. Grapefruit on the nose & palate. Light to medium bitter. I liked the balance. This is what clean & crisp is all about. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a golden amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head fades relatively quickly to leave a lighter level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the brew is rather strong of a bready and cerealy like smell mixed with some lighter sweet aromas of orange and peach. Along with these smells comes some decently strong hoppy aromas of grassy and earthy nature with a little bit of citrus and spice aromas. Taste – The taste begins with a cracker like flavor mixed with a little bit of a caramel sweetness. As the taste advances the sweetness fades away with some grassy and hay flavors taking its place in the middle of the tongue. This dries out the flavor, and brings some nice hop dimensions to the brew. Toward the end of the taste, an earthy taste as well as a bit of a lemon citrus join the tongue, bringing more bitterness to the brew and making for a decently crispy malted, moderately hopped, and drier taste to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the average to slightly higher side. For the drier malt and hopped flavors of the brew the feel is very nice and makes for a great refreshing drinking- moderately hopped ale. Overall- This was a rather nice drinker. Dry and crisp with a decent showing of hop. A brew I rather enjoyed overall.

Golden pour with a white head. Lots of cattymess, pine, herbal. Strong bitterness. The cattymess and bitterness seem overwhelming. Typical I enjoy bitter styles but this seems putrid.

Clear golden, tan head. Light pine, citrus. Light hay. Light bitterness, drier. Light body, quite clean, effervescent. Really very pleasant.
