gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 19, 2009 C&PLYFOTD: 2008 bottle. Dark brass copper pour, thin sheets of lacing and a nice head. Nose is tart, with dark fruits, caramel, some oats, and a dry smooth base. Flavor has thick tart notes, with cherries, rich brown sugar, heavy notes of plum. Rich, balanced, very good. rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Mar 19, 2009 On tap at Papago Brewing.
Pours a nice reddish brown color with a small off white head. Aroma is sour, acidic, vinegary, cherries and oak. Flavor is a very acidic sour cherry taste with hints of oak and a little funk. Very drinkable and the sourness is mouth watering, I love this stuff it’s great. Really impressed. DMRz (218), Durham, North Carolina, USA Mar 19, 2009 Pours a fine dark ruby red with a short white head. Aromas of dried cherries and port wine. The flavor is a fine balance of sour and dark fruit, with a controlled brett backdrop. For minutes after drinking this I enjoyed a sour cherry finish that refused to end. Well balanced and interesting - an outstanding effort. RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Mar 19, 2009 Great reddish brown color. Superb tart oak aroma. Tart cherry flavor with hints of the oak rounding out the sharp edges. Great beer. HonkeyBra (1262), Lemont, Illinois, USA Mar 17, 2009 Crushed with CaryTheDude and JakeBra. Finally got to try this, thanks for hooking me up dudes! Brown pour. Big tart, sour cherry aroma. Vinegar taste with lots of sour fruits, brett, and awesomeness. Great beer. Why doesn’t New Belgium distribute this everywhere? CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Mar 14, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra and Honkeybra. Smells like a tart cherry pie and awesomeness. Just a great, funky, tart, awesome brew. Impressed by New Belgium for this one. Mouth watering. Pastor (509), Maine, USA Mar 13, 2009 I had a local brewer tell me this was his favorite beer so I grabbed a bottle to share with him. The bottle spit between 4 of us into tulip glasses it was a murky reddish brown in color almost no head but a wisp of off white lace.
Aromas of old wet horse blankets yup it’s a sour, vinegar and sour cherries filled my nose as well
Flavors sour cherries and more sour comes to mind. Very tart but I like Flanders so I know what to expect I couldn’t find any oak quality’s to it the sourness just overpowered those. Medium in the mouth not to much carbonation
It is a sipper it warmed up very good as I enjoyed the conversation it is nothing you would want to pound a ton of but it is very drinkable if you are into sours ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Mar 3, 2009 Updated: Mar 20, 2009Bottle thanks to lumpy.Pours a murky reddish brown color yet it appears to be filtered. Medium to large sized canvas colored head Great lacing and persistent head. Nose: tart cherries, oak yet not much vanilla, mold, rubber, red wine, wet clay, and vinegar. Taste is tannic, sweet, balsamic vinegar like, meaty, woody. Finish is acidic, tart, and sort of burns as it slides down your throat but the balance is remarkable. Long last finish. Big fan, I love balsamic vinegar.
