Commercial Description:
La Folie Wood-Aged Biere, is our original wood-conditioned beer, resting in French Oak barrels between one and three years before being hand bottled, numbered and corked for your enjoyment. Brewmaster, Peter Bouckaert, came to us from Rodenbach – home of the fabled sour red. Our La Folie emulates the spontaneous fermentation beers of Peter’s beloved Flanders with sour apple notes, a dry effervescence, and earthy undertones.

Bottle shared by Taverner, pours nice mahogany with minimal head. Nose is sour and funk along with cherries. Flavor is similar, plus the influence of tart apples and oak nuttiness in the finish. Very nice sour.

It’s definitely a sour. I can taste sour apples, jolly ranchers, tannins and woody notes. Pours amber with a thin white head. Full of various sour flavors like apples and apircots.

On tap from PP C-Bad. Brown amber color with a thin white head. Aromas of yeast and tartness. Very luscious and smooth with a medium body in your mouth. Flavors of some maltiness and tart sour cherry and apple. Great long easy finish without being over the top. Great beer for sure.

Intoxicating aromas of mashed sour cherries, pie crust and some lovely spices. Aggressive on the tongue. An immediate shot of raw brown sugar mellowing to a tart cherri and finally to a cherry pie reminicent of the aromatic picture! I’ll have another!

Bottle 12629; 11/07: Courtesy of mgumby10, big thanks Mike. Murky, puddle-water color with a small cream head. Very intense aroma...light fruits, dark malts, oak and the acidity was very well represented but not in a vinegar kind of way. There also seemed to be a subtle earthiness representation noted as well. First taste led to a mouth puckering, tart body with almost nothing else to note...this led to the following tastes where the beauty of this comes through. The sour aspect is there but works with the rest of the brew, instead of against it...some of the dark malts come through with some rhubarb and dark tea leaves. Unbelievable brew.

04 bottle. Thanks 7up2liter. Pours an orange brown with a thin white head. Crusty vag aroma, some vinegar, some paint thinner. Barnyard flavor, some vinegar, a few bits of aids. Kind of reminds me of chewing on a horses tail while it shits in my mouth. finishes extremely sour, refreshing.

Uber thanks to BDR for sharing this mana. Murky brown color with a very tall head that quickly collapses to nothing. Outstanding aroma of sweet, sour and tart cherries. Some oak and yeast, as well as toasted pie crust. The cherries merge into a primarily tart flavor. Plenty of oak and vanilla. Lots of sugar (brown, candi) and caramel. Very heavily carbonated. Pure, unadulterated deliciousness.
