Commercial Description:
La Folie Wood-Aged Biere, is our original wood-conditioned beer, resting in French Oak barrels between one and three years before being hand bottled, numbered and corked for your enjoyment. Brewmaster, Peter Bouckaert, came to us from Rodenbach – home of the fabled sour red. Our La Folie emulates the spontaneous fermentation beers of Peter’s beloved Flanders with sour apple notes, a dry effervescence, and earthy undertones.

On tap at The Bier Stein in Eugene, OR. Poured a brown color with a tan head. Not usually a big fan of sour ales this one had just the right amount of sour for me. Sour apple flavor with the right mouthfeel on the palate makes this beer great.

Ive never really tried too many sour ales, but this was was pretty damn good. Dark brown with a medium head. Small pucker and delicious with every sip. Would definitely try again!

2009 "Lips of Faith" bottle. Pours a cola dark brown with a finger and a half of solid tan foam, a minute or two in lacing out and dissipating to a thin film. Aroma is pleasantly of sour fruit and malt, yeast, etc. Flavor is solidly sour, very pleasant and smooth. Lots of green apple, very dry crisp body, lots of good vinegar undertones, and some slightly milder sharp cheddar flavor, as previously noted by other raters. Really a delicious sour. Overpriced, in my opinion, but a very worthy ale nonetheless.

2009 Lips of Faith bottle shared with JMerritt. Pours a red-brown color with a very small off-white head that quickly dissipates.Aroma is very tangy with a tart sourness, cheesy notes and a slightly sweet overall profile. Flavor is in your face sour, very tart and leaves your mouth dry. Cheesy, barnyard note with a sour Granny Smith apple "sweetness" and slightly acidic at the end. Density of the brew is awesome and holds the flavors very well with a very highly carbonation rate which makes the flavors "pop" in your mouth and seemingly emphasizes the sour/tartness of the beer perfectly. Overall a great brew and well worth the higher than average purchase price ($13.99 where I found it). Fantastic sour that hits the spot!

Best sour I’ve ever had... 2009 Lips of faith 22oz bottle... Pours dark brown with a pretty good head that lasts for a few seconds... aroma is funky with some sugary sweetness... flavor is sour but not over the top... palate isn’t too drying either which is nice

Pours brown into the glass with a small head and ruby highlights. Aroma is out of this world with a lot of sour fruit and wild yeast notes. Anticipation of the first sip is overwhelming! Flavor is intensely sour. Tons of tart apple and cherry notes with just a hint of caramel/chocolate malt. One of the best beer experiences I’ve ever had!

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a hazy typically carbonated brown colored body and a good lacing. The strong aroma was brown malt and sour. crisp with a bubbly aftertaste. It foams in the mouth. The flavor contained notes of sweet brown malt alcohol and sour. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

Bomber, labeled as "Lips of Faith La Folie Sour Brown Ale," shared with Narnad. Dark brown/orange with a small white head. Sour, barnyardy aroma - some soft cream cheese, oak, and subtle cherry sweetness. Wood notes soften the sharpness of the aroma just a bit. Very sour and tart flavor, I pick up a lot of oak, sour cherry, a bit of caramel, and green apple.
