BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 4, 2007 Orangy with a copper accent. Nice light off white foam. Aroma is sour cherry, saddle leather, oak and citrus. Flavour starts off a little sweet with some lemon and cherry before completely souring out with an oak toastiness. Very sour and stunning. elpresidente19 (5), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA does not count Feb 22, 2007 I drank this at the brewery, also out of a growler at home. Definately must be in a particular mood to drink this beer. Intense sourness, good notes of lemon and cherry. A definate "must try". okipatrick (3), Centennial, Colorado, USA does not count Feb 22, 2007 12oz. Bottle, also in a snifter poured from a 1/2 gallon growler at home. I had to be in the mood to drink this beer. Got it on draft at the brewery. It’s a stark contrast to any other beer New Belgium distributes right now. Very sour, fruity, cherry, lemon aroma and very thick, sweetish through the body and finish. Quite possibly one of the best sour beers out there today. I feel fortunate to be so close to the brewery. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Feb 21, 2007 Bottle (750ml). Shared with MrManning, his bottle via trade with kevin - hand labeled "06-1308". *Rating #2100* I’ve been wanting to try this a long, long time - and it didn’t disappoint. Poured murky thick orange-brown with a decent head. Thick, sharp lemon-juice, funky yeast, coriander, oak, sour cherry, thick brown sugar and spice aroma - it kept shifting around - sour ... funky ... sweet. Yum. The up-front taste was lemon juice, then the other elements of this massive three-pronged attack joined in; rubber, sugar, coriander, lanolin, orange zest - but lurking under all that sourness and funk was a massive, rock-solid thick sweet malt body that held up for the hour or so we sipped at this. A thick, syrupy body, solid carbonation, heavy acidity, fresh squeezed lemon juice on the tongue - stunning; the very definition of a sour. I can’t thank you enough, Len - big ups, man! MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Feb 21, 2007 Bottle thanks to Kevin, thanks alot man! SHared with Hogtownharry and milos! Pours murky dirty brown with a dusting of beige fizz that rings aroind the edge of the glass and sticks around. Aroma is old cherries, oak, wild yeast, really acidic vinegar, and some sugary black fruit. FLavour is a kick to the teeth of sour funky apple and cherry. Old past their prime grapes in a good way. Lots of liquid oak flavours, bretty, funky basement, sour infected bread. Flavour lasts for minutes after drinking. I can’t really describe it anymore. It’s the best sour I have ever had, and my rating doesn’t do this beer justice. Mind boggling comes to mind. TheEpeeist (1427), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 17, 2007 25.4 oz bottle. 06-1659. Murky amber brown gives up some balsa head before dispersing. Woody malt vinegar with hints of celery, cherries and nectarines. Intensely sour green plums and dried apricots with needle-y carb. After tastebud saturation and sinus-clearing acidity, flavors of pear and oak emerge. A light, lingering, sour cherry mouth buzz is one of the best features of this brew. Intoxicating and invigorating. What a trip. JK (2944), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Feb 14, 2007 This is an outstanding beer. Very sour aroma. Flavor has cherry, some wheat, oak, and apple. Comparable in quality to Panil but more sour and less sweet. One of the most sour beers I have found anywhere. kmweaver (2395), Sebastopol, California, USA Feb 14, 2007 750mL bottle, courtesy of drewbeerme. Thanks, Andrew! Pours a beautiful, clear, amber-brown color; light tan head with great lacing. Medium, tart aroma, showing plenty of funk, citrus, sour cherries, and toasted oak; incredibly mouthwatering. Full, sour mouthfeel: medium acidity (hardly vinegar) with a high level of tartness; a robust, overripe cherry note lurking underneath, with lots of toasty vanilla, red fruits, and viscous malts to fill things out. Excellent tartness and balance; wonderfully complex. Long, tart cherry and citrus finish.
