TheEpeeist (1429), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 17, 2007 25.4 oz bottle. 06-1659. Murky amber brown gives up some balsa head before dispersing. Woody malt vinegar with hints of celery, cherries and nectarines. Intensely sour green plums and dried apricots with needle-y carb. After tastebud saturation and sinus-clearing acidity, flavors of pear and oak emerge. A light, lingering, sour cherry mouth buzz is one of the best features of this brew. Intoxicating and invigorating. What a trip. JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Feb 14, 2007 This is an outstanding beer. Very sour aroma. Flavor has cherry, some wheat, oak, and apple. Comparable in quality to Panil but more sour and less sweet. One of the most sour beers I have found anywhere. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Feb 14, 2007 750mL bottle, courtesy of drewbeerme. Thanks, Andrew! Pours a beautiful, clear, amber-brown color; light tan head with great lacing. Medium, tart aroma, showing plenty of funk, citrus, sour cherries, and toasted oak; incredibly mouthwatering. Full, sour mouthfeel: medium acidity (hardly vinegar) with a high level of tartness; a robust, overripe cherry note lurking underneath, with lots of toasty vanilla, red fruits, and viscous malts to fill things out. Excellent tartness and balance; wonderfully complex. Long, tart cherry and citrus finish. hiphops (280), caldwell, New Jersey, USA Feb 13, 2007 ebf 07. bangin. pinkbrown. sharply sour nose but fruity not like vinegar. it taste very sour but not vinegar like rode-on-cock. but still fruity and well balanced joebrew (608), Farewell Minny; Hello Puyallup, Washington, USA Feb 12, 2007 Updated: Jun 25, 2007Pours a murky reddish/brown. Very nice tart apple on the nose with a hint of fruity sweetness. The flavor is extremely intense and dries the palate like no other. Very sour green apple flavor balanced ever so slightly by a good cinnamon like spiciness and ripe cherry. Very sour and very good, but a nice balance not super vinegary like many sours. Definately a must try! hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA Feb 11, 2007 This was really really fantastic! Orange colour with a medium disappearing head. Well carbonatied, the aromas of sour cherry and vinegar burst into my nose. The sourness is huge, it pretty much overpowers the senses, but it’s o-so-good. There is a bit of vinegar in the flavour, and it finishes dry and reminiscent of a sour candy. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Feb 11, 2007 Updated: Dec 29, 2007Pours to a bronzey orange, with aromas of orange and sour, sugar glazed lemon. Tastes of cherry and tongue-twisting sour candies; the sourness is biting and almost overpowering but so endearing. Unforgivingly dry with a vinegar strangeness, though brilliantly drinkable.
Updated. An old bottle from the Brickskeller stocks, shared with Ken. Red, slightly cloudy pour. Aroma of balsamic, celery salt, some peat, and old cherries. Quiet, but very tart. Taste realizes this to the purest of burning sour perfection: white pepper, dill, cherries, and pears within a simply massive acid body. Absolutely unmatched sour fire at the finish. That slow pulse of dry, spicy acid that breathes on the smack is just perfectly executed. A pure, transcendent example. mrdeath5493 (108), Arkansas, USA Feb 10, 2007 Purple in a trappist glass. Smells of sour cherries. Sour, fruity, and strong cerry flavor. Well balanced despite itself. Very unique and flavoful. Be careful as it comes only in a 75cL bottle as far as I can tell.
