From bottle into Rodenbach sour glass. A: very sour, rotten raspberries, and high citrus levels. App: very dark amber with 3 finger tan head. T: very sour on the front of lime juice, milder citrus in the middle, ample sour lime citrus in the back. P: crisp bubbles, very smooth. Aftertaste of solid lime juice. First New Belgium beer I have had that is truly the style of the old world.

Tap: The first true "sour" beer Iíve ever had. Deep copper, ruby-red hybrid color with a mild haze. Khaki head with decent retention leaves minimal lacing behind. Aroma full of tart apples, cherry, strawberry, lemon, sweet-tarts, wet-wood, light critter funk, & some mild vinegar. Very tart & sour up front on the tongue; puckering. Full of under-ripe strawberry, green apple, sour cherries, vinegar, & other tart berries. Wild yeast, almost a touch of yogurt in the back-end with moderate acidity & some acetic burn. Dry, sour & woody oak finish. Ever since I had this on tap years ago, I buy bottles every year it comes out. Great beer to have around. La Folie is a classic.

Bottle, deep amber, light brown head, great lacing. Aroma green apples, caramel, oak. Taste green apple, kombucha, black currants, astringent oak. Palate light, carbonation kinda subdued. This is quite sour and astringent.

No doubt about it, this shit is SOUR. The aroma of citric acid, overripe fruit, and faint vinegar clues you into the liquid Warhead youíre about to taste. First, letís talk about the appearance. La Folie is more on the brown side of mahogany. The body is effervescent and the head is fizzy. Now, we can dive into the taste. Holy hell. La Folieís sour somehow manages to be complex and intense, Yet, itís so damn intriguing that you have no choice but to come back for more. Pungent vinegar, tart berry (raspberry and cranberry), tangy apple, vinous notes, lemon zest, and an earthy sourness from the yeast. For the uninitiated, La Folie will be a beguiling beer. For folks who love sour, funky brews, La Folie is a wonder.

O- Wow. This beer smells sour and tart and tastes crazy sour and tart. You start to get used to it but by that time itís almost gone. Lots of lemon juice and vinegar with subtle notes of cherries and oak. Glad to have tried this when I did. I donít think I wouldíve liked it early on in my beer drinking days.

2014 bomber. This beer comes at you in waves. Tart, cherry nose with malt in the background. Seriously sour as the bottle says. Cherry tart gives way to wheat bread sweetness, which in turn fades quietly into dry acidity.

In the glass this is a cloudy looking dark rust brown colored one. It also has a nice slowly fading beige lacing head on the top. It has this surprisingly fruity nose this! Almost a little sweet, but still tart. Yeah, this is one good smelling nose. Lots of berries, blackberries, grass, some brown sugar and hints of lingon berries. Really nice! Tastes even better. Itís definitely sour, slightly woody. Lemon stingy, lots of red berries. Wonderful in the mouth with a near smooth mouthfeel and a just above average carbonation level. Zingy without being to much. Well balanced. Almost a little okay in a way. Sorrel and lemons. This is superbly drinkable. A wonderful beverage.

Half pour at Thirsty Monk Biltmore Park. Seriously loved it. So, so good. New Belgium didnít hold back on this one. Pours a reddish brown with a beautiful thick off-white head. Mouth was watering before first sip- sour apple, oak and earth on the nose. Taste follows with addition of tart cherries and stonefruit. Great acidity and balance. Sweetness is there, but sour notes prevail. Beautifully complex and mysterious. Feel like I didnít quite get in all on the first go. Will be having this again.

10oz on draft, pours dark brown with a hint of red, small amount of haziness. On the nose grape and stonefruit with a hint of sour. Mouth is some caramel malt, mouth puckeringly sour, zingy citrus in the tail. Great beer
