La Folie, French for "the folly," is a beer steeped in New Belgium brewing tradition. This wood-aged, sour brown spends one to three years in big, oak barrels, known as foeders. And when the beer finally hits the glass, La Folie is sharp and sour, full of green apple, cherry, and plum-skin notes. Pouring a deep mahogany, the mouthfeel will get you puckering while the smooth finish will get you smiling. Not a beer for the timid, La Folie is a sour delight that will turn your tongue on its head. Find out why it’s considered one of the best sour beers around.

Clear reddish copper pour with small off white head. Aroma of green apple, citrus, vinegar and sour smell. Taste is mouth puckering tart green apple, tart cherries, citrus and sour. Finishes with a hint of sweetness but dry at the same time. Over the top mouth puckering thats not really my favorite style, but I can understand the high scores on this one, top notch quality for this style.

@ Havregatan 150522. Bottle (330 ml) from Systembolaget. Fruity and bretty with cherries and something that reminds me of rhubarbs, some woody notes, sour, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is dry, fruity and sour.

Sample from Sherbrooke Liquor?s growler bar. Ric, deep red pour with a foamy light brown head. Aroma of dried fruit. Beer itself is nice and dry with tart flavours of sour cherries, prunes, apples, and figs. Definitely has a lot of flavour and complexity.

2014 La Folie, 22oz bottle from The Beer Store Wilson. Dark reddish-brown hue, with almost fully diminishing fizzy white head. No lacing. Aroma of sour dark fruit (prunes), some dark malt, sour cherries and raspberry. Super tart cherry taste up front with more of the same finish. There was some hint of dark malt as the beer warmed a bit from start to finish. This was a dry beer, but the tartness was great. One of the best sour beers I have had so far. Awesomeness in a bottle!!!

Good tartness, but also prominently malt sweetness, ciderlike, but a bit dusty.

Stor skillnad i hantverk enligt mig. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
