tiggmtl (4169), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 29, 2004 Updated: Mar 7, 2006 Musty wood and earth, balsamic vinegar and barnyard all come together in this wonderfully sour aroma. Copper-brown body with plenty of sedimented and suspended yeast. Off-white head recedes to cover. Sourness seems initially aggressive, but notes of sweet balsamic vinegar and dark pit fruits emerge along with oak and a strong, though undetermined spiciness. Nice long dry finish. Satisfyingly thick and heavy in the mouth with strong prickly carbonation to keep it lively on the tongue. More please... Bottle. Enjoyed with hopsrus, MartinT and Rastacouere.
riversideAK (1561), Shoreline, Washington, USA Aug 12, 2008 Reddish brown pour with a nice head. Aroma is tart and citric with a touch of metallic funk. A touch of sweetness up front followed by a ton of tart fruit, oak, funky yeast, cherries, lemon, vinaigrette. FInishes tart and dry and I thought it was pretty quenching. Best beer these guys make without a doubt. This might be a tad overlooked even at a 4.03 because it does not carry the hype that all these new special release beers have, but I think this is fantastic. brokephibroke (34), , Colorado, USA Aug 10, 2008 Pours multiple hughs of red in the proper glass - from brick to cherry. Small white head. Aroma of sour cherry and Russian vodka and apple cider vinegar and subttle smoky oak. It’s sour, but I taste the rind of brie and cooked Traverse City sour cherries. I am glad I have access to this! jgentgesdo (532), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Aug 8, 2008 Pours slightly hazy red/whisky with a small tan head. Nose is sour cherries, vinegar, malt. Flavor of sour cherries, camembert, apple cider vinegar at the end. Slightly chalky aftertaste. Om nom nom soyorganic (111), Denver, Colorado, USA Aug 1, 2008 2007 bottle: poured red/brownish with a small head. Aroma of apple cider and vinegar with a slight hint of caramel. Taste is similar, without the caramel, but with nice carbonation. This sour for me is very drinkable and refreshing. One of the more smoother sours, maybe since the bottle was a year old. lassem (106), Copenhagen, Denmark Jul 31, 2008 Bottle 75 cl. Sitting in the dark popping great beers. Thx mikkel and Jeppe.
This one was presented as brewed by a former brewer from the begian brewery Rodenbach.... and if you didnīt know you could assurdly have guessed it, because this one has many similarities with its european sour brothers from Roeselare.
The nose is buttery with strong notes of sour grapefruits. The appearence is nice and dark-golden with a light golden head. This sour-ale is for me to singular sour and i miss the complexity in its taste. Still there a hints of gooseberrys and fresh lemons and woodchips.
