3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Poured a clear dark brown with an average sized light brown fizzy head that was gone before I took the first sip and had virtually no lacing to speak of. The aroma was kind of sweet with roasted cookie malts and a sweet yeast with notes of brown sugar, some dark dried fruit and a hint of sour apples. It tasted very lightly sweet and malty with a nice dried fruit note at first then WOW did it get sour real quick with a strong does of sour apple at the end. Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and very dry in texture with a very lively carbonation. Overall as sour beers go this one is right up there. Very sour and very tasty. If you like sour beers this one is definitely worth a try...

In the glass this is a cloudy looking dark rust brown colored one. It also has a nice slowly fading beige lacing head on the top. It has this surprisingly fruity nose this! Almost a little sweet, but still tart. Yeah, this is one good smelling nose. Lots of berries, blackberries, grass, some brown sugar and hints of lingon berries. Really nice! Tastes even better. It’s definitely sour, slightly woody. Lemon stingy, lots of red berries. Wonderful in the mouth with a near smooth mouthfeel and a just above average carbonation level. Zingy without being to much. Well balanced. Almost a little okay in a way. Sorrel and lemons. This is superbly drinkable. A wonderful beverage.

Half pour at Thirsty Monk Biltmore Park. Seriously loved it. So, so good. New Belgium didn’t hold back on this one. Pours a reddish brown with a beautiful thick off-white head. Mouth was watering before first sip- sour apple, oak and earth on the nose. Taste follows with addition of tart cherries and stonefruit. Great acidity and balance. Sweetness is there, but sour notes prevail. Beautifully complex and mysterious. Feel like I didn’t quite get in all on the first go. Will be having this again.

10oz on draft, pours dark brown with a hint of red, small amount of haziness. On the nose grape and stonefruit with a hint of sour. Mouth is some caramel malt, mouth puckeringly sour, zingy citrus in the tail. Great beer

A very well made sour from New Belgium. The nose here is massively enticing - puckers your nose before your tongue. Tart cherry and macerated cherries come through here with a great balance on the acidity. Big fan of this one.

BOD 2014. Beautiful clear dark ruby pour. Held to light, it is a deep garnet. Good head volume and retention for the style. Lacing is quite good. The outstanding complex nose is light sweet red fruit - raspberries and cherries - with hints of apples and peaches, over a slightly tart and sour background. Light medium bodied with a surprisingly creamy texture given it’s carbonation. Well carbonated with explosive effervescence throughout. The flavor profile is simply World Class ( very intense amazingly complex and masterfully balanced ). It begins with an assault of the flavors of the nose. Tart fruits, with a slight sour note, slowly allow separation into their components (raspberry, cherry, tart apple) as the tart and sour mild puckering effect sets in. The middle is where the masterful balance and complexity become evident as every flavor just ebbs and flows like a tidal action. The finish is a slightly sweet flavor fade into a tart dry pucker that has crisp elements and hints of vinegar. A 12 oz. format would be ideal, as a bomber is a bit much for such a tart ale.

Bottle. Almost clear deep brown liquid with ruby hue and small to medium off-white head. Aroma of light vinegar, cherries, light strawberries, lemon, apple skin and light dried fruit. Taste is dry and medium sour with notes of lemon, red berries, light wood and light vinegar. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Pretty nice.

2013 bomber from my brother. Pours dark brown with minimal head. Strong tart apple and cherry smell with some lacto. Taste the same with nice slight pucker finish. Really delicious!
