COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Famous in Michigan for farmhouse ales, our friends at Brewery Viviant introduced us to their biere de garde ale yeast strain. From there, we imagined a slightly tart, intentionally dry beer with hints of bergamot citrus that pairs perfectly with French cheeses.

Alright, shenanigans. This was supposed to be done with sour cherries as I recall - where’d these orange peels come from.... Pours a nice golden yellow with a solid sheet of whites - these falls away quickly leaving a central dome. Smells include an up front slap of orange peel, some seeds of paradise character, some dried apricots, belgian yeast and a bit of grain. Taste is rich, sweet and slightly citric. The juice comes thru, but seems just juicy and sweet, not tart or sharp as I like my citric juices. The grain is also more malty than I would have predicted, some bits of apricot here as well. Medium on chubby body with lighter carb. This beer is okay, glad it’s a one and done though. Serving type: bottle 11-17-2012

Bomber in a trade with wchesser. This pours a fairly deep golden hue and is mostly clear. Lots of visible carbonation. A light but nice aroma of soft fruit and malts. A thick white layer of foam stays. First sip is tropical and passion fruit and it is fairly pronounced. Pale malts that are right for a biere de garde. The yeast is also right and brings just a bit of farmhouse funk. A little orange is tasted. A pleasant beer.

Drank from a bomber. Pours a bright, slightly-cloudy gold. A small white head. Very aromatic. Papaya, honeydew, bread dough and phenol. A touch of lemon grass. A hint of funkiness. The taste is sweet with a little pancake batter and orange soda. Some paper napkin dries out the finish. Medium-bodied, with a mildly biting mouthfeel. Love it. I want to make a beer like this someday!

Tap at FFF. Hazy orange-tan. Thin, oily off-white head. Funky sour aroma, touch of malty sweetness. Wow, they nailed it with this one. Big tropical hop tones and an almost white wine dryness. Very complex but merges together well. Saison meets Biere de Garde. World Class. The dry, funky sourness is sublime, not test tubey at all. Clean caramel toffee tinged golden malt backbone. Well done.

Pours clear golden with a subtle orange hue and white head. Aroma is farmhouse funk from the yeast and soft sweet oranges. Flavor brings some orange tang with a drier ending maintaining the orange flavor.

22 oz bottle- Pours hazy light golden with a one finger head that slowly reduces. Aroma is spicy peppercorns, orange, some other type of citrus that is hard to identify, there is a bit of funk there. The taste is fruity, oranges and tropical fruits, sweetarts, yeasty and finishes moderately dry. Body is medium and carbonation is soft. Good, much better than the LOF Brett Beer just before this.

Bomber poured into a shaker. Pours a mostly clear dark gold with minimal head. Spicy and earthy with a little citrus and funk. Taste is light sweet. Lemon citrus with funk, spicy, earthy and floral notes. Light bodied with a thin texture. Soft carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, very good. The alcohol is very well hidden.
