COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Famous in Michigan for farmhouse ales, our friends at Brewery Viviant introduced us to their biere de garde ale yeast strain. From there, we imagined a slightly tart, intentionally dry beer with hints of bergamot citrus that pairs perfectly with French cheeses.

650 ml. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, snow white head, with some lacing, over a clear gold (SRM 5) body.....nose is cereal, orange peel, light ginger......taste is cereal, orange peel, light tropical fruit tones including peach, mango, then light ginger, very light hints of toffee/caramel, finishing semi-dry.....mouth feel light of medium, alcohol burn present, carbonation low. This is a light take on a Biere de Garde which is appropriate given that it is a Blond example of the style. The malts are not very forward and are relatively simple in both aroma and flavor. Also, it is high in alcohol for a Biere de Garde. BJCP 7/3/13/4/7

22 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazed orange with a small white head. Aroma is dry, some basement aromas and orange peel. Touches of herbal and tea notes. Flavor is dry, nice. Lots of crackery malt, some strong citrusy lemon notes. Lemon and orange comes out more as it warms up. Slightly tart finish.

Pours a lemon/golden yellow with lively carbonation with 2 finger head that quickly dissipates and leave no head. Moderately sweet with lemon/orange citrus with spices (coriander?). Yeasty doughy flavor with some mild herbal hops to draw the finish to a slightly bitter end. Medium body with moderate carbonation that quickly settles down after the pour. Very well balanced, given it is a 9% beer. I like it, although it is a touch sweet for me.

Tap @ The BeerMongers... Poured cloudy, pale yellow/orange with a white head. This was very sweet, very worty, malty, herbal, and yeasty. Also notes of honey and citrus. Full bodied yet a little drying towards the finish.

Bottle with Carla from Belmont Station. Pours gold with white foam. Smells strongly of orange zest, coriander with a hint of sweet basil. Tastes a little funky with hints of orange, coriander banana and pepper.

650 ml. Lightly hazy orange-amber with a lasting disc of cream. Aromas of beeswax, resin, honey, light cheese and alcohol. Tastes of resin, honeycomb, vanilla-lemon cake, tannins, and white wine. Near-medium body finishes dry with a nice alcohol warmth, and has light-medium carbonation. Drinkable, but a little more funk would have been welcome. Probably needs some aging, as the style suggests.

Bottle at home with Nik Da Sneak. Pour is clear, golden orange with a fluffy white head and great lacing. Bread, dough, orange, citrus, light spice, and straw in the aroma. Lightly tart, lemon peel, dough, pepper, orange peel, citrus, and clove with a spicy bitter finish. Medium mouthfeel with high carbonation. Pretty easy drinking and the alcohol is hidden beautifully. Not bad, but nothing to get excited about.

I don’t know what to think about this quite yet. It’s definitely tart and has some orange and lemon too. A bit of funk and some strained characters as well. It’s just eh to me.

A hazy orangish yellow beer with a pure white head, but small for a belgian style beer. The aroma is safflower and citrus peel. The taste is yeasty, belgian, bitter sweet and has some grapefruit notes. There is no sign of 9% anywhere. Tastes like a very good sessionable saison. This could be dangerous.

Slightly dusty funky nose, turns lemony as it warms. Nice gold, with no head. Bit boozy and hot. Dried hay, lemon and orange zest citrus, and spice like grains of paradise. Good, not great.
