COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Famous in Michigan for farmhouse ales, our friends at Brewery Viviant introduced us to their biere de garde ale yeast strain. From there, we imagined a slightly tart, intentionally dry beer with hints of bergamot citrus that pairs perfectly with French cheeses.

Bottle. Golden pour with a short, foamy white head. Aroma is sweet and slightly funky with hints of candied citrus (orange creamsicle and lemon candies), yeast notes and straw. Taste is tart fruit, citrus notes, funky yeast, light earthiness, floral notes, and straw. Body is medium with a soft, prickly carbonation. Very soft warmth from the alcohol. Ends with more citrus, candied citrus notes, floral notes, straw, and funky yeast.

Pours clear gold with a 2 finger, frothy white head that has great retention and leaves some lacing. Aroma of citrus blooms and flesh, toast, fruity and bready yeast, light acididty, floral hops and limestone. Flavor is orange flesh and peel, cereal toast, spicy phenols, light caramel and light citrus, possibly yeast related tartness. Medium, oily body with a light carbonation. Not, bad, but a little plain, boozy, and oily.

Bomber to flight glass. Nice and tart with a bit of funk. Wish it had a bit more aroma. One if the better in the lips of faith series.

Aroma: Very light, subtle yeast and a bit of orange. Appearance: Solid, clean golden in color with strong finger-length head. Taste: Orange peel, some lemon, grassy. Palate: Smooth going down, very light carbonation. Overall: Greater than the sum of its parts, smooth and easy to drink, but not sacrificing in flavor. Wonderful for a warm afternoon.

Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 2/16/13

Aroma: The nose is sweet and yeasty, with some orange zest, earth, and grass/hay notes.
Appearance: Pours a clear golden color with a small, lasting, clean, white head and drippy lace.
Flavor: The tartness comes through a touch more in the flavor, but it is still fairly sweet mostly from the orange/citrus zest. There’s also a little spice, and it finishes with a medium earthy/hay bitterness.
Palate: This one drinks pretty cleanly, with a medium body, soft carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression:  Overall, this is a pretty nice beer. The yeast strain works very nicely. The "hints of orange" doesn’t seem to be all that light, as I found it very noticeable and quite zesty. There’s some well balanced spice, and a nice hop components as well. Everything is well put together and well balanced. As far as the alcohol goes, the 9% is really well hidden. There is a lot to like here. Nicely done.

Bomber from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Pours a clear copper color with a medium sized frothy off-white head. Good head retention and decent lacing. Aroma of tart fruits, clay, earthy notes, herbal hops. The taste is bread, herbal notes, stone fruits, berries, vanilla, earthy notes. Medium bodied, slight warmth.

JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - FEB 13, 2013
Bomber from Sam’s, Durham. Definitely an inconsistent series, this. Handsome pour, deep orange, frothy and somewhat cloudy. RIpe yeast and modest funk in the nose but a big fat dose of citrus peel seems to have a disproportionate influence. Prickly mouthfeel, finish a bit bland and not particularly dry enough. Flavors are fairly generic, except again for the strong taste of orange peel. Not bad, just a bit disjointed and underwhelming.
