COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Famous in Michigan for farmhouse ales, our friends at Brewery Viviant introduced us to their biere de garde ale yeast strain. From there, we imagined a slightly tart, intentionally dry beer with hints of bergamot citrus that pairs perfectly with French cheeses.

From a bomber. Light sweet creamy flavor. A little tart too. A really good balance in this rich but refreshing beer.

Nice spice and citrus tones with bready notes. Slightly hazy golden. Semi-sweet with good spice flavor and a lot of yeast notes. Balanced with a dry spicy finish.

Bottle. Golden-orange, effervescent, and nicely topped with white foam. The aroma wafts several feet, fruity and full of esther. This drinks with a soda-like mouthfeel, rich with farmhouse flavors -- musty wood, garden herbs, bit of spice. (#4972, 4/7/2013)

I like it real good. There’s a hint of spice to it that one doesn’t quite grasp... I guess it’s from the bergamot. Medium bodied, this beer is refreshing but packs an alcoholic punch.

Yellow-gold with good, creamy & foamy white head / Fruity nose of tropical & orchard fruit, coconut, and malolactic fermentation / Medium to full body, fruity, sweet with a lot of dry, oak astringency? in the middle, good balance and lightly bitter finish / Flavors of pineapple, apple, pear, peach, clove, ginger, and oak / A little bigger and sweeter than I would prefer, but very well done. The description comment about pairing with French cheese is right on.

14-karat pour with a wispy white head that left a spattering of lacing inside the glass. Candied citrus, lemon grass, orange peel, yeast, honey, and funk all reside in the brew. Crisp, hints of acidity and a little funky. Bright and enjoyable...will undoubtedly pick up again.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2013 22oz bottle. The bottle says it all! Ale with a hint of orange. Well, yep. Aroma and taste are the same. Had a medium head that dissipated quickly. Hardly any meaningful lacing. Go ahead and detect the minutiae of this beer. I swear to god I read a review on here where the kid said he smelled cobwebs. This is a beer with a solid aroma of orange zest, malts, and cilantro. It also has a hint of caramel and an overall sweet bite. Finish is a bit too caramel. For the price, and for the presentation of "New Belgium + Viviant", I kinda expected more. A very good beer, please don?t get me wrong. I?ll honestly give it high marks and I think it?s very solid and drinkable. 9% alcohol.
