3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2005 Hazy orange colour. Spicy, phenolic aroma of medecine, sweat, cologne...like a classic saison meeting Orval. The palate is crisp, slightly toasty but largey perfumey, piney and phenolic. Straightforward, but I like it this way. Refreshing.
Old Notes (2000): Orangey, lively aroma and palate. Soft, rounded malt notes, peppery hints, and a touch of acidity dancing on the tongue. Very stylish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A: A sort of orange/copper color, about one finger of white foam that recedes fairily quickly.
S: Spice, yeast, not really any sort of funk that I was expecting from the Brett.
T: Rather bland, especially for what I was expecting. Mild spice and yeast flavors, otherwise bready.
M: Medium body, with mild carbonation.
D: Drinkable?: yes. Great (or even good)?: no.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A hint of sour. Also yeasty orange? Orange amber color. Not so cloudy, as the sediment settled. Orangy citrus, malt, hop flavors merge. Tiny bubbles foam to a chewy state. Mellow spicy hop finish. But there’s a faint hint of something tending towards creosote. Or some flavor I just can’t otherwise label. Not bad, just different. Bottle conditioned ale triumphs again.
