COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
All it took was a six-week sabbatical in Southeast Asia and one lucky guess for us all to enjoy Billy’s Beer. The newest winner of our co-worker taste-off, cellarman Billy Bletcher, brewed a spicy tart of a beer for summertime sipping. Full of pale malt, Amarillo and Centennial hops, kiwi fruit and Thai ginger, this beer pours a hazy straw with pillows of bright, white foam. Lots of bold tropical citrus on the nose, and a flavor full of puckering fruit, all tied together with an American Hefeweizen yeast for a very dry and very strong puncher of a beer.

Slightly hazy golden with a medium persistent fluffy white head. Nice aroma of earthy fruitiness, earthy wheat, grains of paradise, some bright citrus, and a slight hoppy acidity. Nice flavor of dusty yeasty dryness, kiwi fruit, grains of paradise, blonde malt, earthy wheat, and a semi dry finish of fruity acidity. Light-medium bodied, creative and eccentric.

Tap @ Mayor Foco. Pours a hazy, golden yellow appearance with a fluffy white head. Spicy, herbal, floral, peppery aroma. Quite tart, tangerine, passionfruit flavor with a bunch of spiciness and fruity esters. Not my thing.

Cheesy sharp cheddar funky starfruit nose. Opaque amber no head. Extreme grapefruit flavor, starfruit and pineapple provide some balance. As goof as fruit beer gets.

Sampled on tap at New Belgium Brewery on 10/3/12. This fruit beer pours a slightly hazy light gold color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, kiwi fruit and ginger. A medium bodied fruit beer. The malts are fruity and sweet, with some tartness. The hops are herbal. Lots of kiwi fruit flavors, its sweet yet kind of tart. A touch of the ginger at the finish. Interesting beer, I can’t recall ever having a kiwi fruit beer. Hides the alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly tart.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2012 On tap at the brewery. Pour is hazy honey in appearance with a bright white head and decent lacing. Huge ginger, windex, light pineapple, orange, and kiwi in the aroma. Taste is super medicinal, with overpowering ginger, lemon zest, grass, cleaning supplies, and lime. Light body with high carbonation. Ginger is not really my thing and doesn’t seem to work here. Bleh.

Sample at the brewery. Comes a cloudy gold with an average white head. Aroma of sour fruit, malt, spices, and hops. Taste is similar. Finish is dry and tart. Very interesting to say the least.

Growler from New Belgium Brewery shared with ericandersnavy. Pours hazy gold with white head. Aroma has is full of tropical fruit with signs of acidity. Flavor is somewhat comples, notes of tropical fruit, malt, alcohol spice, somewhat salty and acidic, nice obvious tartness. Mouthfeel is medium with medium-high carbonation. Overall, very nice suprise to have this show up to the garage on brewday, I dig it and it hides abv very well.
