"Slightly let down by this beer as Iíve grown accustomed to really good sours from both NB and Lost Abbey. This was cheap for the style, but there really wasnít a whole lot going on outside of a nice farmhouse aroma. The flavor is too sweet, and not very funky or tart...though that may go away with age. I like the sorachi presence, but as a whole, this is below the standard for these brewers, and for the style."

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Hazy straw colored pour. Medium white head that falls quickly. Little bit of lacing. Aroma is malt with a slight lemon note. Taste is a malt bomb; sweet, caramel, slight citrus. Not a hint of tartness nor sourness. Tastes like a decent IPA with a muted hop presence. But I donít think that is what they were shooting for. Not a surprise seeing who they teamed up with for this one though.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This was given to me by the New Belgian Kinetic Sculpture team in 2014 and consumed one year later. Wonder if I wanted too long. Poured gold with haze White head. Nose of some light fruit and just a hint of the brett. Medium body Flavor is a little funky with a little citrus and again just a hint of the brett. Did it fade or was it never there. Kind of disappointing.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bought Nov. 2012, canít decipher the date stamp. Pours bright yellow in my tulip, like a Belgian tripel. Plenty of suspended bits, and I can see sediment swirling at the bottom of the barrel. Nose is rather mild, just a hint of tartness and maybe some Belgian funky hops; just not in abundance. I guess I expect an all-Brett beer to be pretty sour, but this is more zesty. Highly bubbly, which kind of keeps the taste from getting to me. Not sour, not lactic, I guess nearly 2 years of aging makes a difference. Some strong hops listed in the mix, but they are kind of lost, too, or perhaps they are blended in with the slightly citrusy malt taste. It does taste nice, and it stands out from other beers. Mostly citrus, a bit of wit spice, and a touch of funk.Swirling the sediment for the final pours just leaves it hazy and with some yeast taste.

A hazy yellow beer with a small white head. The aroma is light hay and citrus. The flavor is weak grain.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
UPDATED: SEP 24, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Mike! Dense gold color, moderate translucency with little bits of sediment hanging in suspension, topped with a foamy & lightly soapy, fizzing white head. Aroma is a brettanomyces overload with some bready malt. Funk, biscuit, baked bread, musky citrus, band-aid, medicinal, & weird sterile notes. I love Brett & bready malt, but not in this capacity. Taste contains earth, wet cardboard, band-aid, damp cellar floor, & big medicinal off-flavors. Again, overstating the Brett in large quantity. Heavy, heavy bread flavors with a clumpy, overpowering, yeasty finish. Dryer finish than the desert. This was a difficult one to put down the hatch; honestly, just not a very well made beer. You canít load a crappy beer up with Brett & expect it to be good. Hereís the proof. BTW no sour or pineapple Brett notes ANYWHERE, like the description states.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This probably deserves its less than exalted rating. The flavors are nowhere near as bold as you would expect from a Brett-driven concoction, and though dry, thereís relatively little acidity and sourness. One collaboration beer that didnít produce up to the reputation of its component parts. Bottle.

August 7th, 2012 - New Belgium and Lost Abbey teaming up to make a beer is like Batman and Superman joining forces, and the effect is amplified for me since both brewers come from places Iíve lived, and places where Iíve invested a great deal of drinking and money budgeted for beer. Er, and some money not budgeted for beer. Brett beers are always a little funky, but I trust NBB to make something approachable, and this fits that description nicely. Bright and yellow with a slightly faded dandelion color around the edges, and decorated with a fuzzy, bubbly head, this is an easy beer to look at. The nose is soft and yellow, bearing gifts of pear, butter, clove and even a little elderflower - lovely! The flavor reflects this awesome bouquet. Let it warm a little bit and those soft touches of pear, honey, butter and elderflower glow on the palate. The Brett is extremely quiet. This isnít a ďhorse licking beerĒ by any means. But the Brett does enable this levelly flavors. Thereís no funk, but somehow the choice of yeast emphasizes the quirky flavors, and lets you savor and suck on that delicious braised flavor. As of August 7th, 2012 this is one of the best beers i had had in a long time.

Bold and yeasty but thatís about it. Was expecting more of a sour taste, but it has more of a heavy yeast with light citrus. It leaves more of a thick blanket than I prefer.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle share at Proof thanks to jbruner. Clear pale yellow color with swirls of thin white head and a medium collar. Aroma is super grainey and light malt. Taste is very faintly grassy, and then some light malt sweetness. Not much else to this one. Thin watery body, light carbonation.
