3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. BB 08/2014.
Lively light beige head, large bubbles, frothy, adequate retention. Deep, dark mahogany body, amber hue.
Belgian candy sugar, chewy figs, sherry tartness, brown sugar.
Big banana yeast flavors, mellow, chewy, warming, sweet fresh cherries on the backend and linger. Mild alcohol burn on back but tied in with cherry flavor it is reminiscent of cough drops.
Base of a beer is a great interpretation of an American-style Quad. The adjuncts are not unpleasant, but do not compliment the malt bill. Yeast flavors are my favorite characteristic.

Pours hazy deep amber with low off-white head. Aroma of brown sugar, dates, yeast, light cherry and light wood. Taste is light cherry sour initially before a heavy sugary alcohol sweetness. Finish is somewhat alcohol warming but a bit abrupt. Body is medium and creamy with soft carbonation.

Deep brown pour. Big off-white head. Tons of lacing paints the glass. Big notes of caramel and dark fruit. A bit of booze in the nose. Mostly raisins in the nose. Taste is hot, followed by a sweet, slick raisin note. Malty. Not bad.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle poured into glass. I generally like most of the Lips of Faith beers but this one didn’t wow me. Just sort of mellow and meh. Oh well, not every single one can be a winner.

Bomber from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Pours a hazy red-copper color with a thin creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of toffee, toast, candied cherries, mild citrus and earth. The taste is tart fruits, stone fruits, earth, toffee, banana. Medium bodied, lingering tartness. Odd, but decent.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is a very big, very sweet beer. Almost cloyingly. Pours a clean amber with one finger of white head. Did I mention it is sweet? Plums on the nose. Some alcohol evident.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours cloudy brown with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of spicy yeast, dark fruits and light chocolate notes, a nice toffee and caramel maltiness, some light alcohol, and floral hops. Flavor the same with a decent blend of everything. Average texture. Not a bad beer but not the best of the style.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 ounce bottle into signature globe glass, bottled in 2/2013. Pours hazy reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, prune, fig, pear, apple, banana, toast, chocolate, dark candi sugar, brown bread, clove, herbal, leather, and yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity esters with dark malt notes; and good strength. Taste of raisin, prune, pear, apple, fig, toast, chocolate, brown bread, leather, banana, dark candi sugar, herbal, clove, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of dark and light fruits, toast, chocolate, banana, brown bread, leather, clove, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of fruity ester and dark bready malt flavors; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a slick and creamy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Quadrupel style. Nice balance and complexity of fruity esters with dark bready malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on. This improved a lot as it reached room temperature. A very enjoyable offering.
