COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cascara Quad is a dark, strong and surprisingly delicate ale made with dates and coffee cherries. Channeling the Trappist tradition, it’s brewed with an ethereal malt bill, and spiced with the fruit of the coffee bean (cascara). The aroma brings dates, cherries and pipe tobacco right to the nose and builds layers with hints of spice and fruity Belgian yeast. Once on the palate, Cascara Quad starts swinging clove, fig and molasses. Each sip offers sweet warmth, deep complexity and fleeting dryness.

Hops: Hallertauer Hersbrucker-Nobel, Styrian-Golding-Nobel
Malts: Pale, Munich, Caramel Munich, Biscuit, Black
Fruits/Spice: Belgium Amber Candy Sugar, Date Sugar, Cascara Tea
Body: Medium-Heavy
Aroma: Ripe figs, raisins, plums, black cherries, toffee, chocolate, pipe tobacco, rich Corinthian leather and leather bound books.
Mouthfeel: Starts big and smooth, finishes still smooth yet the cascara tea and higher ABV will bring a nice dry warm end to this epic novel.
Flavor: Sweet and rich, huge complex overall taste.
Visual: Brooding, dark, cloudy berry brown with tan head.

At Avery Strong Ale Fest 2013--Slightly hazy copper with a thin white head. Aroma of dark Belgian grains bringing a dusty toffee essence, but also this odd earthy berry note from I assume the cascara. Earthy flavor with Belgian toffee malt, raisins, earthy berries, and an English old-ale style finish of dusty honey.

Maybe decent aroma but this beer is just booze. I had a boozy Revolution 3rd year rum aged barleywine that was stronger in alcohol than this and this one blew it away with booze.

Aroma of cherries, yeast, malt. Pours a cloudy dark orange amber with thick off-white head that leaves lots of lacing. Tart and sweet with a slight bitter finish. Fruit (could be figs definitely cherries). A slightly boozy candy sweetness. Very nice beer.

650 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, lasting ivory head, with Belgian style lacing, over a slightly hazy, reddish amber (SRM 13) body....nose is a melange of aromas, including cherry brandy, plum.....taste is sweet throughout, with cherry, plum, candy tones dominating, finishing with a sweet but lingering spice type bitter finish.....mouth feel light of medium, sticky, lingering alcohol burn (almost fusel) present, carbonation adds light foam. This is a very complex, but very disjointed beer. The many adjuncts are distorting the malt and yeast attempts to get to an Abt/Quad, and the malt backbone could use some help. BJCP 8/3/10/3/6

Bottle. Amber-brown beer with a dark cream head. Yeast and dried fruit aroma. Malt and cherry flavor with dried fruit, yeast, and light coffee. Medium bodied. Cherry and malt linger with yeast and dried fruit.

A strong boozy brew. Some of the spice aroma you’d expect from a Belgian, but the date and other fruit notes seemed a little out of place. At 10%, it brings the expected amount of alcohol notes, but I just can’t help but thing that there is something slightly unbalanced. Overall, not a bad buy or brew just not a home run either...

From the bottle. Reddish brown pour with an off white head. Aroma is figs, raisins, plums, taste is candied sugar and plenty of the dark fruits. Much better as it warms, but still just ok.

Nice amber-copper color with soft white head. A medicinal boozy, cherry-like aroma. Cherriers, booze, some bready-roast character; round and sweet ...perhaps a touch too much alcohol in the flavor but a fantastic beer regardless.

Clear ruby with a small pale head. Aroma is sour cherries, dates, honey, marshmallow, hint of earthy barnyard. Slightly creamy mouthfeel, more sweet than sour on the palate, hint of booze on the finish. Taste is cherries, bittersweet chocolate, dates, Black Forest cake. Nice
