3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from Bev4Less. Pours a brown-tan color, a little like liquified dates. Nice little off-white head, with decent retention due largely to the endless stream of bubbles riding up the side of the glass. Aromas are malty and thick... just a touch of dark fruits... dates come through more than the cherries, although a second whiff does reveal a touch of it. Taste is disappointing. Tartness is right up front, which I didn’t expect. Then it transitions nicely to the dark fruits (dates, I guess) followed by the rich ABV burn. Mouthfeel is pretty creamy, palate is decent, if duodimensional. Overall, nice. Interesting. Solid, but not great.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz. bottle. Packaged on: 01/16/13. Best enjoyed by August 2014. Pours a murky rust color with a smallish antique white head. The aroma features some caramel, candi sugar, figs, raisins, plums, hints of chocolate, tobacco leaves, vanilla extract, dried cherries, leather, and some spiciness. Full-bodied and smooth on the way down. Lots of rich caramel, dates, raisins, and molasses upfront in the taste. Some bitter chocolate, dried cherries, vanilla extract, and figs at the end. Earthy. Wintry spices abound. Plenty of boozy alcohol warmth from start to finish. Not really my thing, but interesting nonetheless.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark red brown. Sweet malt and spice aroma: vanilla, clove, cherries, and pit fruit. Malt is very sweet - clearly the work of Belgian candi sugar. Finishes with spice notes with a tinge of barrel age.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bready and crisp like a quad should be, with multiple "special" additional ingredients. What results is a cherry sweetness which, instead of being soured, is offset by the astringency of alcohol and coffee and the bitterness of the hops. It’s a take on sour beer that strikes me as overwhelmingly creative and worthwhile, because the flavors work so well together. It’s recognizable, yet unfamiliar.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber pours a murky brown with red highlights. Has a lasting beige head with good lacing. Smells like raisin bread. Aroma has cherries, dark fruits, molasses, tobacco, and bread. Taste is sweet all the way through, almost like artificial cherry-flavored cough syrup. Lots of alcohol in the finish. Body is medium to full with lively carbonation. New Beligium tried for complexity here and ended up with something difficult to drink. Worth a try at this price point, though.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
At Avery Strong Ale Fest 2013--Slightly hazy copper with a thin white head. Aroma of dark Belgian grains bringing a dusty toffee essence, but also this odd earthy berry note from I assume the cascara. Earthy flavor with Belgian toffee malt, raisins, earthy berries, and an English old-ale style finish of dusty honey.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Maybe decent aroma but this beer is just booze. I had a boozy Revolution 3rd year rum aged barleywine that was stronger in alcohol than this and this one blew it away with booze.

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma of cherries, yeast, malt. Pours a cloudy dark orange amber with thick off-white head that leaves lots of lacing. Tart and sweet with a slight bitter finish. Fruit (could be figs definitely cherries). A slightly boozy candy sweetness. Very nice beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
650 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, lasting ivory head, with Belgian style lacing, over a slightly hazy, reddish amber (SRM 13) body....nose is a melange of aromas, including cherry brandy, plum.....taste is sweet throughout, with cherry, plum, candy tones dominating, finishing with a sweet but lingering spice type bitter finish.....mouth feel light of medium, sticky, lingering alcohol burn (almost fusel) present, carbonation adds light foam. This is a very complex, but very disjointed beer. The many adjuncts are distorting the malt and yeast attempts to get to an Abt/Quad, and the malt backbone could use some help. BJCP 8/3/10/3/6
